Fourth-gen Toyota Yaris unveiled
Toyota has taken the wraps off the new 2020 Toyota Yaris that now comes loaded with technology features and will be offered in petrol and supermini hybrid versions. The new-gen Yaris is based on the company’s global architecture TNGA which is also known as ‘GA-B’.
The new Yaris will have advanced tech features related to both safety and entertainment. While it is blessed with the Toyota full active safety suite, set of highlighting features of which are autonomous emergency braking, speed sign recognition, radar cruise control and airbag positioned at the centre of front seats, the inside of the 2020 Toyota Yaris will feature a digital speed display that was removed back in 2011 and a tablet-like infotainment system.
From outside, the new Yaris is bolder than ever featuring larger front grille, sturdy fenders, sharp character lines that are quite visible on the hood, sides and at the back. The Yaris will be available in a dual-tone paint scheme.
Under the hood, the 2020 Yaris will be offered with two engine options, a 1.0-litre and a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, both will come coupled with a CVT system.
Toyota mentioned that the hatchback will feature a mechanical first gear that’ll account for its natural acceleration. The hybrid version, on the other hand, will be a combination of the 1.5-litre engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. The hybrid tech will take care of initiation of the car while the combustion engine will kick in later. Performance figures are yet to be revealed.
