Apex teases its AP-0 hyper EV ahead of Geneva debut
Buggati, Aston Martin, Koenigsegg, Hennessey, etc., aren’t the only hypercar makers around the world, Apex Performance Cars Ltd is also joining the list soon. Based in England, Apex seems to be interested in entering the hypercar circuit with the introduction of the AP-0.
The AP-0 is set to make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show scheduled for next month but has given us a slight teaser already. However, it is to be seen that the new automaker did unveil the Apex AP-1 last year and it is not a completely new name in the scene.
Apex classifies the teased AP-0 as a hyper EV that would boost on exceptional performance with its super lightweight chassis. And why wouldn’t it, the hypercar would just weigh around 1,200 kilograms ( 2,646 pounds). To make it easier to understand how light that is, the BMW i3 weight 1,350 kilograms, while the Tesla Model 3 weighs around 1,830 kilograms.
The Apex AP-0 has built with a carbon fibre chassis which ensures the lightweight quality, besides just adding a lot of rigidity to the entire structure.
We don’t know much about the mechanical and technical specifications of the Apex AP-0, though it might be similar to the AP-1. The latter is equipped with a formula race-tuned suspension and has a carbon fibre chassis. The 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbo engine from Ford produces an insane 400 hp of power and can reach a top speed of 280 kmph.
The AP-0 might take the race-tuned suspension and chassis, though it would have a performance-oriented electric motor. Moreover, according to the teased image of the silhouette of the car, it appears to have a coupe-like body type rather than an open-top model like the AP-1.
To get more details on the car, keep following this space as the car is officially unveiled at the upcoming 2020 Geneva Motor Show next month.
