AC Schnitzer gives a serious makeover to the BMW i8 Coupe

ABU DHABI: AC Schnitzer, a well-known aftermarket tuning company, has given a cop car makeover to the brand-new BMW i8 Coupe. However, the modded car wouldn’t be going for an active service to help the cops chase the criminals, instead, it would be used to promote a national campaign for stopping the illegal and unsafe tuning.

The modified BMW i8 Coupe has been given an extensive police makeover. The suspension is lowered by 20mm, which might eventually improve the handling. It has got new lightweight alloy wheels, carbon-fibre spoiler, and trim pieces. A hella light bar sits at the top. The front gets a new diffuser and a custom-made bonnet. In addition, there are side wings made of fibre.

Inside the car, the aluminium pedals along with the shift paddles welcome you. Moreover, an iDrive controller is also available with an aluminium cover. The AC Schnitzer-tuned BMW i8 Coupe rolls on the wheels of 21-inch with the dual-tone finish.

The new BMW i8 Coupe is equipped with a BMW eDrive plug-in hybrid system that includes a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. The e-motor is capable of delivering a maximum power of 141 hp. Moreover, the petrol mill produces a maximum power of 228 hp and the peak torque sticks to the 320 Nm. The overall system is capable of making up to 369 hp of power.

The drive is sent to the rear wheels by a six-speed Steptronic transmission. Moreover, the e-motor comes mated to with a 2-speed automatic gearbox that sends the drive to the front wheels. The vehicle can hit the 100 kmph mark on the speedometer in just 4.4 seconds. It comes with a top speed of 250 kmph.

The hybrid system also contains a 355V of the battery. It means the battery comes with a bit more power and the electric range is also better than before.
