ABU DHABI: The Spanish automaker Cupra has introduced the all-new Terramar to bridge the gap between everyday family utility and high performance. This compact SUV combines the features and space of a Volkswagen Tiguan with a distinctive design that sets it apart from mainstream models.

The Cupra Terramar will be manufactured in Hungary at Audi’s Györ plant.The Cupra Terramar, built on Volkswagen’s MQB Evo platform, will be offered with five different engine options, including plug-in hybrid, gasoline, and mild-hybrid. All models will feature a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with power outputs ranging from 148 horsepower in the base version to 268 horsepower in the plug-in hybrid.
The engine lineup starts with the 1.5 eTSI 148-hp mild-hybrid, which utilizes a 48-volt starter-generator for exceptional efficiency. In certain conditions, this setup facilitates engine-off coasting, additional support during acceleration, and energy recovery during braking. Cupra is capitalizing on the plug-in hybrid's rise with the Terramar, which comes with a 19.7 kWh battery that offers up to 70 miles of electric range. It is available in two power variants: 201 horsepower or 268 horsepower. The battery supports 50 kW DC and 11 kW AC charging.
Despite plug-in hybrids known for their sluggish performance, Cupra promises an agile and enjoyable driving experience with a revised front suspension and 10 mm lowered ride height for better handling. The VZ trims offer a choice to disable electronic stability control and Cupra driving mode.
The cabin has a lower driving position and a driver-focused layout with premium materials. It comes with a 12.9-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, with illuminated touch controls. Standard tech includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a wireless charging pad with cooling.
The Cupra Terramar will be manufactured in Hungary at Audi’s Györ plant, alongside the next-gen Q3. European deliveries are set to begin in October, with vehicles expected to arrive by early 2025.
