2025 BYD Seal revealed in China: Discover the latest updates

ABU DHABI: BYD has revealed the 2025 Seal electric sedan in China as its first model outfitted with LiDAR technology. This mid-life update introduces many feature enhancements, such as a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor with enhanced autonomous driving features and improved Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) capabilities.

The 2025 BYD Seal is based on the new e-Platform 3.0 Evo that has also been utilized in the Sealion 07 plug-in hybrid. It comes with a 23,000 rpm electric motor and 1,200V SiC control system that takes around 3.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph and can reach a top speed of 240 kmph.

The BYD Seal boasts an 800V platform and CTB battery integration taking just 25 minutes to charge from 10%-80%. It comes with two battery options: 80.64 kWh and 61.44 kWh, offering a range of around 510 km to 650 km (CLTC). 

The base BYD Seal offers around 228 hp with a rear motor. On the other hand, the mid-spec variant offers 308 hp, and the dual-motor AWD model produces around 523 hp. For better handling, the updated chassis comes with the Disus-C system.

The 2025 Seal also comes with a new roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, enhancing Automated Valet Parking, urban and high-speed Navigation on Autopilot, and ADAS with L2+ DiPilot 300.

The new BYD Seal has maintained its dimensions—1460 mm high, 1875 mm wide, 4800 mm long, and with a 2920 mm wheelbase. The redesigned interior comes with a rotating central control screen, a four-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, wireless charging pads, and a minimalist centre console with hidden air vents. All models now boast a W-HUD head-up display and 13 airbags.

The 2025 BYD Seal lineup in China includes the 650 Long Range Edition priced at 189,800 yuan (AED 97,210), the 510 Standard Edition at 175,800 yuan (AED 89,930), the 600 Four-Wheel Drive Intelligent Driving Edition at 239,800 yuan (AED 122,750) and the 650 Intelligent Driving Edition at 216,800 yuan (AED 110,860). For reference, the pre-facelift model retails between AED 149,900 - 194,900 in the UAE.
