2025 BMW M5 debuts with a V8 plug-in hybrid mill

ABU DHABI: The long-awaited 2025 BMW M5 is finally here. With its electrified powertrain, it marks the beginning of a transformative era, setting a new standard for BMW’s formidable flagship sedan.

The new BMW M5 comes with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 combined with a powerful electric motor integrated into its eight-speed automatic transmission, similar to the BMW XM SUV. This combination delivers a total system output of around 727 hp and 1001 Nm of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels via BMW's rear-biased xDrive all-wheel-drive system. 

Despite weighing around 2.4 tonnes, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. It is equipped with an 18.6 kWh battery that offers an electric range of approximately 67-69 km and supports up to 7.4 kW AC charging, achieving speeds up to 140 kmph in electric mode.

The new BMW M5 comes with a wide range of advanced amenities, including the latest Curved Display that integrates the infotainment system and instrument cluster into a single, curved screen. It also features an M leather steering wheel that is flat-bottomed with illuminated M buttons for easy access to performance settings. 

The luxury sedan is equipped with M multifunction seats with electric adjustment, a head-up display, a four-zone automatic climate control system, and a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System for a concert-like experience. For convenient charging, the M5 includes a wireless charging tray.

Exterior upgrades include M light alloy wheels, measuring around 21 inches in the rear and 20 inches in the front, mated with high-quality tyres to complement its extraordinary capabilities.

In the UK, the starting price of the new-generation M5 is expected to be around £110,500 (approximately AED 552,500), but details regarding its launch in the UAE have not been confirmed.
