The Auto Expo is the most important event of the Indian automobile industry which showcases a number of brand new, refreshed, and upgraded cars from all leading manufacturers. The six-day event will begin from 7 February at the Indian Expo Mart in Greater Noida.
Here are the 40 most exciting cars that are slated to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
1. Kia Carnival
The Carnival is a premium multipurpose vehicle (MPV) which will debut on 5 February. The Carnival is a follow-up to the Seltos mid-sized SUV and a step higher than the Toyota Innova Crysta MPV.
2. Kia QYI
The QYI will be Kia’s third product in the Indian market. The sub-4m SUV is based on the Hyundai Venue with identical engine options. The car will have a pre-production launch at the Auto Expo, while commercial rollout will happen in August.
3. Kia Seltos X-Line
Kia had already showcased two custom-built off-road versions of the Seltos SUV in the US last year. Branded as the X-Line concept, the vehicle is set to be exhibited at the Auto Expo.
4. Hyundai Verna 2020
The full-sized Verna sedan will get a cosmetic upgrade with the 2020 model. It will have BS-VI engine choices and connected car technology. The commercial rollout is expected to happen in March.
5. Hyundai Creta 2020
The next-generation Creta compact SUV will debut at the Auto Expo. It will sport an all-new rear and front design, BS-VI motors, and an upgraded cabin. The car will be commercially available from March.
6. Hyundai Tucson Facelift
The Tucson, branded as a premium SUV by the South Korean manufacturer, is due for a facelift along with BS-VI engines. The car is expected to be in showrooms by March.
7. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios N-Line
The Seoul-headquartered company will enter the Indian premium hatchback segment by introducing a 1.0-liter, turbocharged petrol version of the Grand i10 Nios. The output will be around 100 PS. Sales are expected to commence from March.
8. Hyundai Le Fil Rogue
The Le Fil Rogue was shown as a concept vehicle at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show. The four-door, sporty coupe has a sharp exterior design, while the cabin is minimalistic but packed with technology.
9. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Facelift
The Vitara Brezza facelift was long overdue. Changes in the upgraded car will be mostly cosmetic. The biggest change will come in the form of a petrol motor, which is a first for the car.
10. Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E
The small Futuro-E will be showcased as a concept electric SUV. Its production version will compete with the Tata Nexon electric vehicle (EV). It will indirectly rival the Morris Garages (MG) ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona.
11. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol
India’s largest carmaker by volumes will add a petrol motor to the S-Cross at the Auto Expo. Cosmetic changes to the existing car are unlikely. The petrol engine is expected to be the BS-VI, 1.6-litre K15B unit which hauls the Ciaz and Ertiga.
12. Maruti Ignis Facelift
The Ignis is sold exclusively through the Nexa dealership chain. The car is all set to sport a new front fascia. The rest is expected to remain pretty much the same. Features too would be similar to the current version.
13. Maruti Suzuki Swift hybrid
The company, as already announced, will discontinue the diesel motor from the Swift in the BS-VI era. The hatchback will get a hybrid powertrain for better fuel efficiency, which could be a precursor to an all-electric Swift in the future.
14. Tata Harrier 2020
The Harrier mid-sized SUV will get several upgrades, just a year after it was launched. The car will now have a BS-VI diesel motor, optional automatic transmission (AT), a panoramic sunroof, and larger wheels.
15. Tata Gravitas
This is essentially a seven-passenger version of the Harrier and even the looks are pretty much similar. The Gravitas, however, will sport a revised back because of the third row of passenger seats. The car was showcased at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show as Tata Buzzard.
16. Tata H2X
The pre-production model of the H2X will be shown at the Auto Expo. The micro-SUV was showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle is expected to be smaller than the Nexon, and will possibly rival the Renault Kwid. The H2X will be officially launched later this year.
17. Tata Altroz EV
The Mumbai-headquartered company will showcase an all-electric version of the Altroz premium hatchback at the Auto Expo. The pre-production version of the Altroz EV is claimed to return a mileage of 300km. The commercial rollout of the car is expected early next year.
18. Mahindra XUV300 EV
The pre-production model of the all-electric Mahindra XUV300 will be showcased at the Auto Expo. The sub-4m SUV will compete with the Nexon EV and is expected to return a mileage of around 300km on a single recharge.
19. Mahindra XUV500 EV
Mahindra will showcase the XUV500 EV as a concept car at the upcoming event. It is expected to share the design elements with the company’s Funster concept EV, which Mahindra teased on 3 February.
20. Mahindra eKUV100
The eKUV100 is likely to be the brand’s first product in its upcoming range of all-electric vehicles. Mahindra has claimed that the eKUV100 will be the most affordable all-electric car in the Indian market with an ex-showroom price likely to be under ₹9 lakh, factoring in the government subsidies.
21. MG Hector 6-Seater
British carmaker MG will showcase a 6-seater version of the Hector midsized SUV at the Auto Expo. The final product name of the car is yet to be finalized. The car has already been spotted with captain seats in the middle row. The vehicle is due for a commercial rollout by June.
22. MG Gloster
The full-sized Maxus D90 SUV sold in China, will be available in India as the MG Gloster. The body-on-frame, three-row car would compete with the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market. The Gloster will be sold from end-2020.
23. MG G10 MPV
The Maxus G10 MPV will be a direct competitor of the Toyota Innova Crysta in the Indian market. The minivan was launched in the Chinese market in 2014. The global-specification model has various seating layouts and can accommodate up to 10 passengers. The MG G10’s commercial rollout in India is unlikely to happen soon.
24. MG Marvel X
The Marvel X is sold under the Roewe marquee in some international markets. It is manufactured by the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC). The premium, all-electric SUV has a semi-autonomous driver-assist system. It has a claimed mileage of more than 400km.
25. MG Vision-i
The Vision-i is an all-electric concept vehicle from MG and sports a MPV-like styling. But the car’s ground clearance is like that of an urban SUV.
26. MG RC-6
The RC-6 debuted in the Chinese car market as the Baojun. The car has a sedan-type body with increased ground clearance. It has a sloping roofline, almost like the Volvo S60 Cross Country. The MG RC-6 crossover coupe is expected to be introduced in India next year.
27. Renault Triber AMT and 1.0-L Turbo
French carmaker Renault launched the Triber MPV in India with only a 1.0-litre petrol motor, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The company will now showcase the new, turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine with an automated manual transmission (AMT) system at the Auto Expo. The Triber with AMT will be available from March.
28. Renault HBC
Renault will enter the Indian sub-compact SUV market with a new car that will be displayed at the Auto Expo. It is currently known by its codename HBC. The car has already been spotted several times and is likely to be launched later this year.
29. Renault Kwid-Based EV
The leading French automobile manufacturer had unveiled a Kwid-based compact EV last year. The car is known as City K-ZE in the Chinese market. The new EV will be an entry-level car with a mileage of around 270km.
30. Renault Zoe
An electric compact hatchback that’s popular in Europe. The automaker intends to show off its electric vehicle making capabilities with this model at the show.
31. Skoda Rapid TSI
The Skoda Rapid sedan is an entry-level car from The Czech manufacturer. It will now get a new, turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol motor in the BS-VI era. It will replace the current 1.7-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.
32. Skoda VISION IN
The VISION IN is a concept car that Skoda will exhibit at the Auto Expo. The VISION IN will be made exclusively for India and will be based on Volkswagen’s Modularer Querbaukasten (MQB) platform. It will challenge compact SUVs like the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. The official launch is due in 2021.
33. Skoda Octavia vRS245
The next-generation Skoda Octavia is due in the Indian market later this year. The car’s current version won’t be upgraded to the BS-VI emission standard. Skoda will retire the Octavia sedan with a limited edition version which will showcase at the Auto Expo.
34. Skoda Karoq
The Skoda Karoq is a compact SUV sold by the Czech automobile manufacturer in a number of global markets. The Karoq is the successor of the Skoda Yeti is hailed for its off-road capabilities and the all-wheel-drive powertrain. The Karoq is expected to indicate the design aesthetics of the India-specific SUV which Skoda plans to launch immediately after the Auto Expo.
35. Volkswagen A0 SUV
The German carmaker has already teased the new sub-compact SUV in an unexpected fashion and the car is all set for a global premiere at the Auto Expo. The vehicle, like the Skoda VISION IN, will be underpinned by the MQB platform. The official launch of the car is expected around mid-2021.
36. Volkswagen T-Roc
The Wolfsburg-based company will bring a new range of SUVs to India and the T-Roc will be showcased at the Auto Expo. The Car will be a subcompact SUV and will sport a coup-type style with premium features. It will have its India launch later this year and will be positioned below the Volkswagen Tiguan.
37. GWM Haval F7
Chinese automobile manufacturer Great Wall Motor (GWM) will is all set to commence its India operations at the Auto Expo. Its first car is expected to be the midsized Haval F7 SUV which will rival the Tata Harrier and the MG Hector.
38. GWM Ora R1
The star attraction from GWM at the upcoming event will be the Ora R1. The car was launched in China as the world’s most affordable EV. The pint-sized all-electric car has a number of technological features and has a claimed mileage of more than.
39. Mercedes-Benz EQA
The leading German luxury carmaker is expected to display the EQC all-electric SUV at the Auto Expo. The compact car is still in its design stage.
40. Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-door Coupe
The four-door Mercedes-Benz AMG GT coupe will be displayed at the Auto Expo. It will be hauled by a bi-turbojet, 4.0-litre motor which produces 639PS maximum power and 900Nm peak torque. Its India launch is slated to happen in 2021. The car will compete with the Porsche Panamera Turbo luxury sedan.
