2019 Nissan Patrol: Features we like

Nissan Patrol has been an immensely popular SUV in the automotive scene in the Middle Eastern market and together with the Toyota Land Cruiser has dominated the segment, big time. In fact, such has been the response that Nissan has registered 110 percent growth with the Patrol now over the same period in 2017.

And thus, there couldn’t be a better time for the 2019 Nissan Patrol to be introduced in the region. Yes, this new iteration of the car does have quite a few new additions to the ones that were already offered. So, here is a small glance at this new model where you get a brief on what it is all about and what we like in it the most.
What’s amazing?

Exterior

Nissan has launched the 2019 Patrol with two new color options - Forged Copper Brown and Hermosa Blue. However, apart from just the two colors, there are some new accessories too like a slightly redesigned front fascia. The front and rear diffusers are new and there are grey fenders too. At the rear, you will get an optional tow-hitch cover which wasn’t offered earlier. Even the exhaust tip gets chrome covers.

Apart from these, most of the other aesthetic aspects seem to be the same as it was earlier. The front fascia continues to be bulky and beefy. The roof rails aren’t that high but do look extremely good. At the rear, the split combination tail lights aren’t the sleekest in the section but do look stylish in its own. There is a small strip of the stop light at the rear spoiler too.

Interior

The settings in the cabin continue to be modern and upmarket. The touchscreen display on the dashboard is perfectly placed between the AC vents. Plus, you will love the woody trim additions on the dashboard and centre console, which also appears to be minimalistic.

The entertainment is kept on the high with the 13-speaker audio system from Bose, which includes two subwoofers. The Intelligent Key from Nissan will allow the owners to access the door lock by just the press of a button and remotely start the car from a distance of around 60 metres, allowing cooling or heating of the cabin in advance.

In order to make things comfortable, there is a dual-zone climate control where the upper and curtain air vents provide optimum cooling in the hottest days, that too for all the three rows. Though all the rows are very comfortable with ample leg room, the third row can be electronically controlled in order to optimise the cargo space.

Heard of the cooled glovebox? Well, the Nissan Patrol has a cooling box, but behind the centre console. Plus, the double-hinged lid allows access to it from both first as well as the second row.

Safety

While on the drive, the 2019 Nissan Patrol is one of the safest places to be in. There are airbags all around for all the rows, just to provide optimum safety during the unforeseen incident of an accident. Plus, there is a better head protection too, thanks to the active head restraints for the front seats that help to cushion the head and also reduce the whiplash.

The pre-tensioner seat belts are designed to be smart and active as it tightens automatically if there is any forward collision detected. Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Braking Assist, Traction Control, etc., are some of the standard safety measures.

Mechanism

2019 Nissan Patrol transmission

The 2019 Patrol specs are identical to the outgone version it replaces. There is a 4.0-litre V6 engine that can make 275 PS of power at 5,600 RPM along with a peak torque of 394 Nm, coming at 4,000 RPM. On the other hand, the bigger 5.6-litre V8 engine is much more powerful and can thump out a whopping 400 PS of power at 5,800 RPM and a peak torque of 560 Nm, which comes at just 4,000 RPM.

As for the transmission, there is a 7-speed automatic gearbox unit given as standard.

Summing up

2019 Nissan Patrol rear

The 2019 Nissan Patrol price starts from AED 181,000, which makes it quite a competitive SUV against its arch-rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser, which is slightly more expensive and starts at around AED 199,000.

Hence, the new model would definitely keep the legacy of this amazing SUV going in the Middle Eastern market, but not without the plethora of amazing features and the fire-breathing engine under the hood.
