2018 Jeep Wrangler caught testing - Gets tech-bits inside

ABU DHABI: The popular Jeep Wrangler, now in its fourth generation, is due for a much-needed upgrade. And yes, for all the people who love the Jeep for its bold models on offer, the American company is looking to bring on the 2018 update of the Wrangler soon.

After being unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show towards the last part of 2017, the Wrangler JL (codename for the fourth generation) is now being readied by the company. Test mules of the upcoming car have been spotted in India without any coverage whatsoever. And the best part is, both the 3-door and 5-door guises were out in the open.

Looking at the upcoming 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL, it can be understood that the car looks fresh despite retaining the legendary boxy silhouette. As for an example, the subtle changes include the headlamp holds that stick out of the outer grille slats.

There are new bumpers and alloy wheels too. Moreover, the windscreen rake is sharper than before, but you can still fold it away and take off the roof and doors with the help of a toolkit. Some of the numbers of the physical dimensions have gone higher up, like the 276 mm ground clearance and the water-wading depth has been increased to 762 mm.

Peep inside the cabin and you will find that off-road-biased roots and luxuriousness has been blended perfectly. The seats are wrapped with leather material, and so are the steering wheel and gear knob. Other tech bits the cabin include a dual-zone climate control, touch-enabled infotainment system, and an LCD display on the instrument cluster.

Up at the heart, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is expected to get the 3.0-litre diesel engine, which could make a maximum power of 263 hp and a peak torque of 600 Nm. The bigger 3.6-litre petrol motor would be making 289 hp power and 352 Nm torque. The transmission duty would be done by an 8-speed manual gearbox for all the trims.

With the car already been spotted testing, it won’t be long before it hits the production and gets ready for a launch in a few months from now.
