1968 F1 GP paid tribute by McLaren 720S Spa 68
ABU DHABI: It has been 50 years since McLaren won the F1 GP for the first time in the year 1968. It was the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit where the automaker made history. Now in the year 2018, in the bid of celebrating the auspicious 50th anniversary of the feat, 3 amazing 720S have been commissioned by McLaren Brussels.
Part of the McLaren 720S Spa 68 Collection, the 3 things of uniquity have been dipped in MSO Bespoke Anniversary Orange color. This paint scheme, as a result, brings back the memories of the McLaren M7A finished in Papaya Orange, the car which won the Grand Prix.
There are also the carbon-fibre sill covers inscribed with the words “1st McLaren F1 victory Grand Prix 9th June 1968 - Bruce McLaren” from McLaren Special Operation (MSO) Defined Range. Finished in satin black are the 5 twin-spoke MSO Bespoke alloys on the special edition McLarens.
Moving inside the car, we see the 14-km long track embroidered on the headrests. The stitching inside is also orange contrast stitching. Each car has its number on a dedicated plaque. Furthermore, the orange color can also be seen on the key fob which also has “Spa 68” text on it in silver color.
Also, in front of the rear wheel arch, there is an outline of the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit. With only 3 units produced in the celebration, 2 of the 3 720S Spa 68 have already found their buyers, as confirmed by McLaren. So, if you’re a fan of McLaren and want the piece of history blended with modern tech in your garage, you better rush!
