Ten high-end car features we hope soon make it to affordable cars
Who doesn’t love luxury cars that are stocked with high-end features? These modern car amenities make the driving experience so much better and fun. Isn’t it? Yes, we know that some of these hi-fi features are just for show and are soon forgotten to put into use. But our focus is on those luxury features that really make a difference in the overall driving experience. Further, they are so much easy to use. And we think carmakers are catching up with the same thought, as some entry-level hatchbacks are seen packed with such features. Say, for example, the AED 58,900 priced Renault Captur, this crossover comes with a rearview camera, intelligent hands-free card, touchscreen infotainment system supporting connectivity options, and more.
However, ours is a time when such inclusions have just started happening, and are limited to top trims. There’s a long way before the below talked about 'desired luxury car features' become mainstream. We have compiled ten such car features that in our opinion are a must-have and should definitely find a place in common men’s car.
1.LED headlamps
LED headlamps not only increase the style quotient of a car but play a few other vital roles as well. Like they offer better light throw and spread in the dark and are highly energy efficient too. Some of the latest launches such as Suzuki Dzire and 2018 Toyota Rush feature LED headlamps, however, they are still considered as a novelty feature.
2. Auto-dimming IRVM and ORVM
Many are not even aware as to what and how an auto-dimming IRVM works. But believe us, it is an extremely simple and must-have car feature. Well, an auto-dimming rearview mirror senses ambient lighting and then fine-tunes the glass tint, thus giving you a clear road view. They also come with a few add-on features like compass and thermometer. We feel cars of all grade should have auto-dimming inner and outer rear view mirror feature.
3. A full-blown car safety kit
It was only in March this year that child car seats were made mandatory in the UAE. Meaning all cars should now have ISOFIX as a standard requirement. Also, dual front airbags are fast becoming a compulsory requirement. While all these changes are welcome indeed, we feel and want automakers to offer more advanced safety features in the cars. On top of our mind are - side airbag, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Frontal Collision Assist, and Blind Spot Monitor.
4. Ventilated seats
Let us face it, ventilated seats may sound like a fancy feature, but given the hot weather condition of UAE, it is more of a necessity. These seats not only absorb moisture from one’s back but also reduce car’s temperature when parked for long under the sun. Few automakers like Hyundai have introduced this feature in the ongoing model of Elantra. We hope others follow its path and that too soon.
5. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
The Tyre Pressure Monitoring system update the driver about the health of the tires, by sharing the real-time pressure. An under-inflated tier is as bad and dangerous as an over-inflated one, taking a toll on both efficiency and braking. The said system is available in cars like Ford Focus and can be also added at a later stage for a minimal amount.
6. Power adjustable front seat with memory function
Power adjustable seats provide for near to perfect seating driver’s position and is a better option over the manual unit. The power adjustable seat is often accompanied by a memory function that is programmed to remember specific individuals optimum seating position. This feature is an add-on for cars with multiple drivers.
7. 360-degree parking camera
Parking in a tight spot becomes so much easy with a 360-degree camera at your service. However, many of us are denied of the bliss, as this feature is mostly limited to high-end premium cars from brands like Audi, BMW, and Jaguar. Teasing the common man further, it is often accompanied by the bird’s eye view feature that only boosts a driver’s car positioning skills. It is sure an expensive feature to ask for as it requires a minimum of four cameras and a software bringing in all the images together. So, how about for starters we at least have a rear parking sensor and camera as a standard offering.
8. Sunroof
Sunroof may sound cliche to some, but believe us it’s a must-have feature, especially for cars making it to UAE. We say so, because sunroof’s apart from enhancing a car’s aesthetics, improves AC performance (something not many are aware of).
9. Wireless charging
It’s time to go the minimalist way, and we choose to do that by saying bye-bye to wires. Wireless car charging sounds fancy and is mainly restricted to luxury cars, with 2018 Creta being first in its class making it mainstream. This feature will not only reduces cabin cluster but add a dash of modernity to the car.
10. Wireless connectivity
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are features we now commonly get in budget cars. However, what we don’t get is the wireless smartphone connectivity. And we still have to take the support of wires that is a struggle for rear passengers.
With this, we come to an end of our list. Hope someone from the auto world listens and would work towards wish list.
