Toyota Prius Expert Review

One can barely deny the impressing prowess of the Toyota Prius in the real world, be it any country it is sold in. Keeping that thing in mind, the cutting edge technology that it inherits and also the incredible value it possesses are things worth appreciating.

The Toyota Prius celebrated its 20th anniversary this year and continues to serve one and all with its significant approach to the industry. Clearly, it won’t be the fastest and the most-desirable car to go down in history, but it would still manage to be one of the prettiest. Hence, even if the Teslas look to rule the roast in the all-electric segment, this little Toyota Prius hybrid would not shy away from being eternally timid but valuable car.

Toyota Prius Interior & Features

The interior setting is something you will barely want to miss. It is a light-hearted attempt in making a sporty car but keeping the conventionalism intact. The three-spoke steering wheel has a lot of control buttons given on it. Leather upholstery is given on the Iconic variant along with the six-speaker JBL navigation audio system. Automatic air conditioner and a leather cover for the steering wheel are given as standard.

The infotainment system on the dashboard has the connectivity options of Bluetooth, USB, Aux-in, etc., besides having the CD and FM player.

Prius Exterior

The Toyota Prius is an absolute gem of a kind, or so does the designing suggest. Look at the car and the first impression will take you in awe as it is no muggle against the Teslas. The closed-bound front section, with small air intakes near the bumper, will not miss the sweet spot of your eyes. The swept back headlamps are very edgy and look really amazing.

Skip to the rear end and you wouldn’t want to leave at all. Having the coupe-ish approach, the top part of the boot door looks like a sporty spoiler that you find on the Henesseys and Buggatis. The sharp geometric-shaped LED tail lights are tall and extend to the bumpers. Plus, for the illumination, the company offers an all-LED approach at both sides.

Toyota Prius Ride & Handling

The superior hybrid mechanism in the Toyota Prius is eminently very versatile. It even has the option of being driven on complete-electric mode, in case the driver wants to. Plus, the battery that powers the electric motor is of regenerative type and gets charged each time the brakes are applied or deceleration in induced.

With 15-inch wheels and 195-section tyres, the hybrid car is the most appropriate car to hop into if you are looking at the hybrid section of the automobile industry. That said, the suspension setup is on the better side, neither too hard nor too soft, and offers a great balance between a comfortable and sporty ride.

Prius Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Toyota Prius Hybrid boasts on a hybrid system that is capable of providing power even at low speeds with the help of an electric motor along with an IC engine that can make high-speed power. This, of course, helps in getting the efficiency to go higher.

Mechanically, there is a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine that can make a maximum of 97 horsepower at 5,200 rpm along with a peak torque of 142 Nm coming at 3,600 rpm. This conventional engine is mated to an electric motor that produces another 71 horsepower and 162 Nm of torque. The combined power is sent down to the wheels via a CVT gearbox.

Toyota Prius Braking & Safety

The Toyota Prius is pretty rich in features when it comes to safety concerns. The brakes are accompanied with ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution along with brake assist. There are also plenty of driver’s assistance features added, like vehicle stability control, traction control, cruise control, blind spot monitor, etc.

For the occupant inside the cabin, the company offers dual front airbags along with the ones on the sides and curtains (add the driver’s knee to the list too). This is a standard fitment across all the variants.

Prius Verdict

If you ever thought that the Toyota Prius Hybrid does not deserve your money, think again. It is one of the rare combinations of a very attractive design with an efficient approach in the way it works. With the help of the electric motor, it manages a great fuel efficiency.

Hence, at the given price tag of around AED 90,000, the Prius is, indeed, valuable.
