Renault Symbol Overview
For a starting price of AED 38,500, the Renault Symbol offers quite a handful of features. To begin with, it looks pretty great; aggressive, sporty, and stylish. It drives good, too, thanks to its 1.6-litre engine which produces 102 hp and comes mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. FYI, this is one of the highest sizes of engines available in the B Sedan category. The interior of the Symbol carries a dual-tone theme (optional black is available) which is okay-ish, nothing extraordinary. However, it’s the cabin space that is definitely worth mentioning. There are many storage areas as well and a 510-litre boot. Other interesting features here include automatic air conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, ESP, and airbags. The infotainment system isn’t the best one out there but it gets the job done. If you are looking to buy the Symbol, you can have it in any of the 9 available colours - Glacier White, Mercury, Comet Grey, Navy Blue, Cosmos Blue, Pearl Black, Flame Red, Tourmaline Brown and Mink Brown.

Renault Symbol Expert Review
The Renault Symbol sedan is placed below Talisman in the company’s line-up. Prices for the mid-size sedan start from AED 38,500 (including VAT) for the base PE trim and the fully-loaded top-spec LE grade is offered at an additional premium over the PE variant. The Renault Symbol range comes in a total of nine exterior shades including Glacier white, Tourmaline Brown, Cosmos Blue, Navy Blue, Flame Red, Mercury, Pearl Black, Comet Grey and Mink Brown. While it is positioned a rung below Talisman, the sedan has large dimensions with its length gauging at 4,354 mm, width at 1,994 mm (with door mirrors) and 145 mm of ground clearance (laden). The front overhang is slightly short at 825 mm as compared to the rear overhang at 894 mm.
Visually, the Renault Symbol has a boxy stance, unlike Talisman. However, it carries some of Renault’s quintessential elements seen in the current crop of Renault models such as the multi-slat grille, adjoining swooping headlamps. The grille features blacked-out slats and a bold chrome surrounding with Renault’s logo embossed in the centre. Bumper in front is covered largely with air-intakes, flanked by fog-lamps enclosed in chunky housings. Side skirts and prominent lines on the bonnet further define its robust character. The suavely styled side panels get wing mirrors with integrated turn signals, body-painted door handles and pronounced wheel arches with neatly tucked in 16-inch diamond cut alloys. The talking point at the rear end is the wrap-around split tail-lamps and the chunky bumper that sports large exhausts.
On the inside, it features a five-seat configuration with seats covered in beige upholstery with leather like edges. There is also an option of all-black leather seats. A height adjuster for driver’s seat enables adjusting seat as per convenience and there is also a 1/3 and 2/3 foldable rear benchseat. A Media NAV 2.0 multimedia system with 7-inch touchscreen and GPS is layered inside. Among other comfort bits, it packs height adjustable headrests in front, power steering, power windows in front with driver’s one touch control, temperature sensor, automatic air conditioner and rear view camera and sensors. These features are available based on the variant one picks. The audio system inside the cabin gets Radio Arkamys which can be operated through a switch mounted on the leather covered steering wheel. Additionally, it comes with Bluetooth connectivity, CD MP3/jack in fascia, etc.
Under the hood, it gets a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder, 16 valve, Euro IV compliant petrol engine tuned to produce maximum power of 102hp against 145 Nm torque. The petrol unit comes connected to a four-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the front wheels. Braking set-up on the sedan consists of ventilated disc brakes at front and drum units at the rear. The safety suite on the Symbol has a long list of features such as dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system with emergency braking assistance, passenger airbag with disconnecting function, diver seatbelt unlock alarm and ESP. Also optional are front side airbags, while ISOFX points for child seat, visual over-speed alarm, height adjustable front seatbelts and tyre pressure monitoring are standard.
