Mitsubishi Xpander Cross

Apart from the exterior, the interior of the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross was also updated in this facelifted iteration. The layout of the dashboard was revised with new upholstery and an updated centre console, along with soft-touch trims to make the cabin feel more premium. 

The cabin of the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross now feels more modern with the 8-inch full-TFT instrument console behind the four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a new standalone 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The rectangular AC vents on the centre console and dashboard corners now have premium-looking silver surrounds. 

Mitsubishi has decently equipped the Xpander Cross with features like an engine push start-stop button, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, USB chargers, driver seat height adjustment, electronic parking brake and cup holders, and map pockets in all three rows. However, to make it feel more compelling, we would have loved to see more new-age features in the cabin, as seen in similarly-priced compact SUVs. 

Based on the standard Xpander, the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross gets a host of tough-looking add-ons, which makes it look like an SUV-ish version of the former. The facelifted version of the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross, which debuted in 2022, received all the tweaked highlights of the Xpander facelift, including the new rectangular grille with a piano black finish and chrome inserts.

As a part of the facelift, the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross also received triangular daytime running LEDs and revised T-shaped all-LED headlamps. The front bumper was also tweaked in the facelift, which now has rectangular housings for the tiny fog lamps. The wraparound silver garnish and rugged-looking silver skid plate with a squarish design add some toughness to the outer appearance of the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross.

In the current facelift, the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross also received fresher-looking 17-inch machined alloy wheels, which complement the body cladding over wheel arches and lower part of door panels and sharp creases through the door panels. More ruggedness is added to the design of the Xpander Cross in the form of skid plates over the door-side mouldings.

At the back, the Christmas tree tail lamps of the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross received revised LED inserts in the facelift. Like the front bumper, even the rear bumper looks rugged with the new silver skid plate, while it retains the roof-mounted spoiler with integrated brake light and shark fin antenna from the Xpander MPV.

Apart from the engine, the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross also shares its suspension combination with the standard Xpander MPV, which includes Macpherson struts with coil springs, a stabilizer and a built-in strut bar at the front, and a torsion beam at the rear. Despite having a slightly higher ground clearance than the Xpander MPV, the Xpander Cross feels as sure-footed and comfortable as the former, with decent space in all three rows adding more to the comfortable experience. 

Shared with the standard Xpander MPV, the 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine of the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross claims a maximum power output of 105 PS and a maximum torque output of 141 Nm. Paired with a conventional CVT gearbox, this engine feels refined and has decent power delivery, though it lacks punch at lower RPMs, making overtaking tasks a bit slow.

The Mitsubishi Xpander Cross only gets the basic essential safety features, and not more premium ADAS features, with the list of its safety equipment including dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, active stability control, hill start assist and tyre pressure monitoring system. 

With added toughness in its appearance, the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross is a more desirable compact MPV over the standard Xpander. While it retains the base design, refined and durable powertrain, spacious cabin, and comfortable ride quality of the Xpander, the SUV-like add-ons on the outside and higher ground clearance make the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross a bolder-looking alternative.
