Jeep Wrangler

Compared to its predecessor, the Jeep Wrangler has a slightly more modern design with new-age features finally making its cabin look up-to-date. However, there are still some elements that give the Wrangler an old-world charm for which it is praised worldwide.

The Jeep Wrangler has a multi-functional steering wheel in front of the instrument console binnacle, which has rounded housings for the analogue gauges and a 7-inch TFT screen in the middle of them. The colour-coded middle layer of the dashboard looks unique along with the rounded AC vents on the dashboard corners and centre console. There is an 8.8-inch squared touchscreen infotainment system stacked in the middle of the AC vents in the centre console, below which the Wrangler gets a host of nicely-finished buttons for the infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, and off-road functions.

The overall butch design and upright stance of the Jeep Wrangler have remained iconic all these years. The current edition of the Jeep Wrangler, which was introduced in 2019, is a mildly-tweaked version of its predecessor, but it manages to give a freshness to the whole identity and desirability of this off-road machine.

At the front, the Jeep Wrangler welcomes you with its upright front fascia, which ditches aerodynamics for good. This vertical fascia of the Wrangler consists of a seven-slat vertical grille, which has given the Wrangler and other Jeep SUVs an iconic identity. The upper corners of this grille are flanked by rounded headlamps, which are now all-LED units and also consist of daytime-running LEDs. This entire fascia is within a trapezoidal housing with rounded edges. The front bumper of the Wrangler, which is a full-metal unit with tapered side edges and fog lamps incorporated within them, enhances the butch appeal of the SUV.

On the side, both the two-door and four-door versions of the Jeep Wrangler have flared front and rear wheel arches, below which the SUV gets off-road spec tyres and gunmetal grey alloy wheels. The doors of this SUV have a clean and vertical design with no contours, and come with blacked-out, old-school pull-back door handles. The windows give the Jeep Wrangler an old-school appeal with their squared design. The rear profile of the Jeep Wrangler also has a squared-out appeal, with a rectangular theme carried out for the rear windscreen and tail lamps which have hourglass-themed LED inserts. The butch appeal of the Jeep Wrangler is further ensured at the rear by the tailgate-mounted spare tyre and the metallic black bumper with tapered edges.

Available with a four-wheel drive system with all the off-road functions like front and rear locking differentials, limited slip differential, drive modes, and low-ratio mode, the Jeep Wrangler is a wonderful experience that comes in its element over rougher terrains. The Jeep Wrangler comes with five-link suspensions and disc brakes at both front and rear.

The only engine with which all three variants of the Jeep Wrangler are available in India is a 3.6-litre naturally-aspirated V6 petrol engine. Offered with an 8-speed automatic and four-wheel drive system as standard, this V6 engine produces a maximum power output of 285 bhp and a peak torque output of 353 Nm.

The Jeep Wrangler is armed with a host of safety features like front and side airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, brake assist, dynamic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors, reverse parking camera, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, tyre pressure monitoring system and brake assist.

While the Jeep Wrangler might not offer a polished and supple ride quality like other monocoque SUVs priced similarly to it, it offers an experience like no other when the tough gets going, thanks to its tough-as-nails chassis and off-road hardware.
