Zeekr 7X EV breaks cover; global launch next year

ABU DHABI: Geely-owned Zeekr unveiled a new electric SUV, the 7X, at the 2024 Chengdu Motor Show in China. It is set to launch in the domestic market by the end of September and will begin global deliveries next year. The Zeekr 7X will be offered in both all-wheel and rear-drive variants and will feature an 800V architecture for ultra-fast charging.

    The Zeekr 7X measures 4.83 metres in length and in comparison to the Tesla Model Y, it is about 8 cm longer. It has a 2.93-metre wheelbase and is around 1.93 metres in width, with a weight ranging from 2,298 to 2,475 kg. It is based on the Sustainable Experience Architecture and offers a comfortable and spacious interior, offering superior legroom and headroom compared to other midsize SUVs.

    According to the Chinese manufacturer, the 7X has been designed keeping in mind families, focusing on practicality in its interior. It boasts at least 616 litres of boot capacity, making it one of the leaders in its segment. It has 32 storage compartments making it a practical choice.

    The Zeekr 7X is available with two battery options: a 100-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery that offers up to 780 kilometres (CLTC) and a 75-kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery that provides around 605 kilometres range (CLTC). Developed by Zeekr engineers, the LFP batteries feature the fastest charging capability in the world. It can charge in just 10.5 minutes from 10% to 80%.

    Zeekr 7X

    The Zeekr 7X comes with an array of sensors, including Lidar. It comes with dual Nvidia Orin X chips that deliver around 508 TOPS of computing power. It is expected to be incorporated with the Haohan 2.0 intelligent driving system that was earlier used in the 007 and 001 models.
