The Volvo EX90 has taken centre stage as it earns the prestigious title of World Luxury Car of the Year. The award was announced ahead of the New York International Auto Show, confirming the Swedish brand’s strong presence in the luxury electric SUV market. 

The EX90, a seven-seat all-electric family SUV, wowed experts with its refined interior, advanced safety systems, and Scandinavian design. It’s more than just another EV—it’s Volvo’s vision of premium, future-forward mobility.

World Jury Chooses Comfort and Innovation

The World Car Awards jury, made up of 96 automotive journalists from 30 countries, voted the EX90 as the most outstanding luxury car released in the past year. Their evaluation involved test drives that revealed just how quietly and powerfully the EX90 performs, thanks to its twin-motor setup producing 510 horsepower. 

The SUV’s cabin also impressed, designed with long trips in mind and finished in sustainable yet premium materials.

Design That Follows Function

The EX90 showcases the core principles of Scandinavian design—clean, purposeful, and functional. Its front end is sleek and rounded, made to optimise airflow. Smooth surfaces, including flush-fitting windows, enhance aerodynamics and reduce drag. 

One of the most striking design features is the lidar system, placed at the centre of the roofline. Hidden under a low-profile cover, it works with cameras, radars, and sensors to create a detailed map of the car’s surroundings, reinforcing Volvo’s legacy of safety.
