All-new VW Golf breaks cover - sketches are out

Volkswagen Golf has been an admired hatch ever since it made its debut in the motoring world. Having spied without any camouflage already, the all-new Golf’s sketches have been made public by the brand. The eighth-gen Golf is set for a world premiere on 24th October at the company’s headquarters in Wolfsburg. Volkswagen has released a couple of sketches, showing exterior as well as interior.

With less than 10 days to the official unveiling, we are expecting the new Golf to be classic with redesigned components. We expect a refreshed front fascia, with restyled headlamps, new grille and reworked bumper. A thin strip of light is also expected to be present at the front end. The officials at VW had said that the design of the all-new Golf will be “more dynamic than ever before”. 

Aside from the exterior, we are expecting significant changes inside the cabin which is touted as a “new digital cockpit” by VW. Certainly, something we are eagerly waiting for. Expect a sleek-looking dash design with all physical controls replaced by a touchscreen centrally-mounted console. The air vents could well be fitted craftily into the dash with a light strip. 

Volkswagen has mentioned that the eighth-gen Golf will be a “trendsetter in terms of its digitalised and connectivity-oriented interior world, its assisted driving features and its online-based functions and services.”

The engines options that the all-new Golf could get include a1.5-litre TSI engine with cylinder deactivation and a turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0-litre engine. Expect a refined suspension unit as well for better handling and performance. 

To add a bit more spice and leave you bouncing off the walls, the Golf GTI, another spectacular hatch from the fleet of the German automaker, is likely to come with a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that will be capable of making out 255.5 PS of power while being coupled with either a 7-speed DCT or 6-speed manual gearbox. 

Moreover, expect the Golf GTI TCR with 290 PS of power capability and a brand new Golf R coming your way anytime soon.
