Volkswagen Beetle officially discontinued
ABU DHABI: The Volkswagen Beetle has been a cute retro-looking car that has been in existence for a very long period of time. However, there were speculations for quite some time that this small premium car would be seeing a dead end soon.
But here is the official word coming from Volkswagen USA, the Beetle has been discontinued. At this, the head of Volkswagen in the US, Hinrich J. Woebcken, has mentioned that the discontinuation of the Beetle from the lineup would definitely evoke a lot of emotions among the people who loved the car.
The Volkswagen Beetle has been a forever wonderful car ever since the one that was designed in 1938, as requested by Adolf Hitler, came into existence. Even to date, the car has remained very true to its reputation being the small and cute model. Plus, there has been quite a good number of new goodies which did entice the package further, like a small vase on the dashboard, which would welcome flowers.
Having said that the Volkswagen would get the chance to have the last laugh as the company would bring a final US-only model, which would be termed as the ‘Final Edition’. It will be offered in both the coupe and convertible body styles and will be getting the Stonewashed Blue and Harvest Moon Beige paint jobs.
Under the hood, it would be getting the 2.0-litre TSI motor which will be capable of making a maximum power of 174 PS along with a peak torque of 250 Nm. Some of the attractive features in this final model would be the Bi-Xenon headlamps and the 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, there would be part-leather upholstery for the seats and a 6.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard.
This Volkswagen Beetle Final Edition has been given a price tag of USD 23,045, which means slight under AED 85,000.
