Toyota unveils 2023 Land Cruiser 70 Series with a new turbo-diesel engine

ABU DHABI: Toyota has made a bold move in the global market by unveiling two new offerings. The Japanese automaker has unveiled the all-new Land Cruiser 70 Series along with the redesigned Land Cruiser Prado. Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series was introduced in 1984, and it became one of the longest-running nameplates of the company still available in Africa, Australia, and the Middle East.

When it comes to the interior, the Land Cruiser 70 Series comes with a new 4.2-inch instrument multi-info display, redesigned central console, and a new 6.7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. 

On the safety front, the Toyota Safety Sense suite has been updated, and various advanced systems like automatic high beams, road sign assist, and lane departure alerts have been added. 

Let’s take a look at a few other highlights of the 2023 Land Cruiser 70 Series.

• The SUV boasts a new 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel powertrain generating a maximum power of 204 PS at 3400 rpm and a peak torque of 500 Nm between 1600 rpm and 2800 rpm. 
• For the first time, the engine has been paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission option is available across the entire range, which includes four three grades and four distinct body styles.
• The Land Cruiser 70 Series has undergone noticeable changes in terms of styling. The most prominent change is the all-new front fascia, with an eye-catching grille design, prominent Toyota badging, and rounded headlights.
• Other styling upgrades include new black front and rear bumpers, restyled horizontal tail lights, and new alloy wheels.
