Toyota reveals the Corolla GR Sport and Corolla TREK
ABU DHABI: Following the release of the Yaris GR Sport last year, Toyota is offering the new Corolla in the GR Sport guise, set to go on sale from January 2020. This model will come with various exterior and interior changes.
Exterior changes come in the form of a dark chrome front grille, side rockers, rear diffuser, and a unique lower skirt. Other standard elements on the Toyota Corolla GR Sport include LED fog/headlights, 2-tone paint finish with a new Dynamic Grey color, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Hop inside, and you are greeted with black sport seats, which can be upgraded to leather. Red contrast stitching is found on the instrument panel, steering wheel, and gear shifter.
The GR Sport will be offered in either a Hatchback or Touring Sport body types. Engine options will be either a 1.8-litre (making 122 PS and 142 Nm) or 2.0-litre (producing 180 PS and 190 Nm) hybrid powertrains.
Exclusive to the Touring Sports body style is a TREK variant, developed in collaboration with Trek Bicycles. This variant is meant to appeal to “people who enjoy active lifestyles and outdoor pursuits.” Exclusive features in this variant include a 20 mm increase in ground clearance, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, fog lamps, and rear privacy glass.
These new models will add a bit of flair to the popular Corolla and give customers a different choice. The Corolla TREK is set to go on sale from August 2019.
