Toyota GR Corolla TC will compete in the 2025 racing season

ABU DHABI: The commitment of Toyota to motorsport spans from grassroots racing to F1. At a recent event that was held in Mooresville, North Carolina, Toyota revealed the GR Corolla TC. It has been designed to slot between the Supra GT4 and GR86 Cup racer. This edition showcases the ambition and versatility of Toyota in the racing world.

The GR Corolla TC racer is based on the production model and is all set to compete in the TC America series. It has the same all-wheel-drive system and a 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine of GR-Four. While the production variant offers 295 pound-feet of torque and 300 horsepower, Toyota has not revealed the race car’s specific power figures, but differences are unlikely.

The GR Garage team will implement a range of race-spec enhancements for each vehicle. These upgrades include 2-piston rear brakes and Alcon 6-piston front, JRi dual-adjustable shocks, and custom MacPherson struts from TGRNA, along with aerodynamic improvements. The power management, ABS, and drivetrain will be handled by Bosch Motorsport electronics. The safety enhancements include an OMP fiberglass seat, an FIA-approved roll cage, and OMP’s electronically activated fire extinguishing system.

The TC America series which will act as the competition ground for the GR Corolla, is expected to debut in 2025, combining the former TC and TCX classes into a more competitive, single field. This aims to elevate the racing experience by bringing together different types of cars, fostering among teams closer competition. Toyota seems to be enthusiastic to participate in this new racing format. For the race car more detailed specifications, including pricing, will be unveiled soon.
