Toyota 86 MF Ghost at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon
ABU DHABI: Toyota 86 MF Ghost concept displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon is an attempt of manga’s publisher and Toyota to give life to the 86 from the recent manga series, for which joint efforts are underway.
With the same stock engine found on the 86, the new 86 MF Ghost concept will be a performance-oriented model. It gets a fair bit of modifications in the same respect, including the Ogura N1 clutch and an oil cooler. The handling of the car is another thing in focus for the makers. For the same, equipment featured on the car includes EXM Exmotion Athlete Orange suspension unit and a 2-way LSD from Toyota TRD.
All four 17-inch TWS Motorsport T66-F forged alloys come wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza tyres. The Project Mu 4-pot calipers can be seen at the front end while at the back you’d find 2-pot units. All the four corners get slotted rotors.
Aesthetically the car looks quite busy, gets a lot of graphics and decals all around. The number 86 on the door looks extremely dominating whereas some other graphics look to join the party. The big wing-like spoiler at the back is a highlighting component of the car for sure.
Inside the car, you get a Bride Low Max Xero CS racing seat for the driver instead of the one offered by the company as the stock equipment. There are plenty of gauges to display important information about the vehicle, including oil and water temperatures, engine speed and more.
For unawares, the MF Ghost is the brainchild of Shuichi Shigeno, who is a popular Japanese manga artist, also famous for creating ‘Initial D’ series. The latest work shoes references with Initial D and its characters where combustion engined cars have been replaced by self-driving electric cars.
