Smart, originally known for its compact city cars, is undergoing a transformation. Once a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Swatch, the brand has evolved into a performance-oriented automaker under Geely’s ownership. The latest model in this evolution is the Smart #6, a high-performance sedan that is set to challenge established electric competitors.

Smart #6: A High-Performance Electric Sedan

The Smart #6 will be the fourth model in the brand’s lineup and its first-ever sedan. Built on Geely’s advanced platform, it is expected to share much of its technology with the Zeekr 007, a model already gaining attention in the electric vehicle (EV) market.

Powertrain and Performance

• • Rear-wheel drive variant: 335 HP.
  • All-wheel drive variant: 637 HP (same as Zeekr 007).

 

• Battery options: 75-kWh battery for entry-level models and 100-kWh battery for top-tier versions.

 

With these specs, the Smart #6 is expected to compete with the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, offering both efficiency and high-speed performance.

Design and Features

Although official images have not yet been released, industry insiders expect the Smart #6 to follow the brand’s modern design philosophy. Given its relation to the Zeekr 007, the sedan will likely feature a sleek, aerodynamic profile with premium styling cues that resemble a baby Mercedes EQ model.

Inside, the cabin is expected to be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a digital cockpit, premium materials, and an intuitive infotainment system.

Global Market and Availability

While Smart has been expanding globally under Geely’s leadership, the Smart #6 is unlikely to be released in the U.S. Mercedes-Benz, which manages the brand’s operations outside China, has shown no interest in bringing Smart vehicles back to North America.

However, customers in other regions, including the UAE, will have access to this exciting new model. For U.S. buyers, Geely-owned brands offer similar alternatives, such as:

Volvo EX30:

• Dual-motor AWD: 422 HP.

• More affordable single-motor versions to be introduced later.

The Smart #6 marks a significant milestone for the brand as it moves beyond compact city cars and into the high-performance EV market. With powerful drivetrains, cutting-edge technology, and a competitive stance against major players like Tesla and Hyundai, this new sedan is set to make an impact—especially in markets like the UAE. 

While it may not reach the U.S., buyers can look at related models from Polestar and Volvo for similar performance and innovation.
