Polestar's first-ever performance SUV makes world debut at Auto Shanghai 2023

ABU DHABI: At the Shanghai Motor Show, Polestar revealed its first-ever performance SUV, the creatively badged Polestar 4. This electric SUV coupé is the fastest Polestar production car. The Polestar 4 was accompanied by the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 at the Shanghai Motor Show.

Polestar's CEO said, "Polestar 4 is not simply a modified version of our first SUV. Instead, we reconsidered the entire design to create a new breed of SUV coupe."

The Polestar 4 blends the spaciousness of an SUV with the aerodynamics of a coupe. It will be available in single and dual-motor powertrains. The dual motor will produce 544 hp and 686 Nm of torque, and the front motor has a disconnect clutch that can be used to reduce drag under light load conditions. 

The Polestar 4 measures 2,139 mm wide, 4,839 mm long, and 1,544 mm tall. The front fascia of this high-performance SUV is appealing, thanks to the dual-blade front lights and unique light signature that give the SUV a striking and stylish design.

The rearview mirror and rear window have been eliminated in Polestar 4, enabling a new and unique kind of immersive rear occupant experience. A high-definition screen has been used in place of the rearview mirror to show a real-time feed. Drivers can also use the high-definition screen to see rear occupants.

The all-new Polestar 4 is built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture developed by Geely Holding. It is the first Polestar that has switched to a landscape display from a portrait-style center touchscreen. The Polestar 4 also has the Google Automotive Services suite with the Play Store, Maps, and Assistant. 

Polestar 2, a compact premium fully electric fastback car, is available in the UAE. But the company has not announced anything about the launch of Polestar 4 in the UAE market.
