Polestar 2 teased, will be unveiled online ahead of the Geneva Motor Show 2019
ABU DHABI: The Volvo performance division, Polestar, is going to unveil the all-electric Polestar 2 sooner than anticipated. Polestar has also released an image of the car's taillight design. This comes in a few weeks after another image was shared showcasing the rear design, from the top angle.
The online unveiling will take place at Volvo’s headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden. It will be streamed live on the Polestar website and its corresponding YouTube channel. The date is set for Wednesday, the 27th of February. After this online event, Polestar will have a public showcasing at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show next month.
The Polestar 2 will be the second vehicle from the performance-oriented brand. First, there was the Polestar 1, unveiled towards the end of 2017. It is a gorgeous 2-door coupe with some impressive numbers. Power is generated by a petrol-electric hybrid unit producing a combined output of 600 bhp and 1,000 Nm of torque. Production of the Polestar 1 will start at the new Polestar Production Centre in Chengdu, China. The car is now available to order and customers can expect deliveries by the middle of this year.
The Polestar 2 is squarely aimed at the heart of the Tesla, the model 3. It will be interesting to see if Volvo draw customers away from the popular Tesla Model 3 to Polestar 2. Let the all-electric battle begin!
