Nissan to start delivering GT-R50 by Italdesign from end 2020
It is official that Nissan will start delivering the limited-edition GT-R50 from the end 2020 to the customers. While the prototype version of the car was on display at the 2019 Nismo festival in Japan, the first customer vehicle will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2020.
Based on the GT-R Nismo facelift, the limited-run GT-R50 by Italdesign features bigger turbochargers, higher-flow injectors, larger intercoolers, optimized intakes, ignition, and exhaust. The tweaked Biturbo V6 on the GT-R50 is now capable of churning out 120 PS more power and 128 Nm more torque than the GT-R Nismo. Its performance is rated at 720 PS at 7,100 rpm and 780 Nm from 3,600 to 5,600 rpm. The power is transferred to the all-wheel-drive system by the rear-mounted 6-speed DCT.
Other noticeable tweaks include new Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear discs, a Bilstein DampTronic I fully-adjustable damping system and 21-inch alloys that are wrapped by 255/35 R21 tyres at the front and 285/30 R21 at the back.
Bob Laishley, Nissan global sports car programme director said, “Our customers have relished the personalised experience provided by Italdesign, who have a long tradition in the exclusive field of ultra-rare, bespoke high-performance vehicles.”
Only 50 units are said to be produced of the GT-R50. According to the automaker, the demand for the limited-run model is fairly high. A certain number of bookings have been made, while a few still remain. Not sure how many are still available.
The GT-R50 Italdesign was first displayed last year as a concept in June followed by its production version reveal in December 2018. It was priced at 990,000 euros (AED 4,023,260 approx).
