Nissan introduces GT-R Special Edition, a tribute to Naomi Osaka
ABU DHABI: Nissan is all set to give tennis lovers and car enthusiasts a treat to rejoice for a lifetime with its recent introduction of the Nissan GT-R Special Edition. The new GT-R edition is to celebrate the company’s partnership with the new brand ambassador, Naomi Osaka who is a promising young tennis player from Japan.
Nissan appointed Osaka as its brand ambassador after she defeated Serena Williams at the U.S. Open in September this year, to win her first Grand Slam Singles title. She became the first and the only Japan-born tennis player to achieve this feat.
Nissan presented GT-R Nismo to Osaka last month upon winning the title and now she’s got a special edition GT-R designed and built in her name. As the new Global Ambassador, Naomi Osaka helped select the exteriors colors of the special edition model. There are a total of three exteriors color choices available, including Brilliant White Pearl, Midnight Opal, and Meteor Flake Black Pearl, which can be clubbed with any of the three available interiors trims - red, tan, and cream.
Additionally, the special edition GT-R gets a carbon fibre rear spoiler, high-mount LED stop lights and a new build plate in the engine bay that is garnished in gold.
Under the hood, the special edition GT-R comes with familiar specifications of V6 twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre power unit that puts out a max power of 572.8 PS and a peak torque of 633.1 Nm, mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a capable AWD system.
The new Osaka GT-R edition is a Japan-specific model with only 50 units to be produced. So, if you are a tennis fanatic and live in Japan, then this special edition GT-R should be on your buying list. As far as pricing is concerned, it is yet to be announced by the company. Stay tuned with us for more updates on the Osaka GT-R Edition.
