MG ZS EV launched in the UAE
MG Motor has introduced its first-ever pure electric vehicle in the UAE called the ZS EV. Based on the 1.5-litre petrol MG ZS SUV, the electric vehicle was revealed at the 2019 International Conference for Future Mobility. The British automaker has already introduced the ZS EV in the European and UK markets where it received an overwhelming response. Now with the introduction of the EV in our market, it is clearly evident that the brand is prepared and ready to embrace the New Energy Vehicle world.
Talking about the model, the ZS EV features a single electric motor that’s responsible for driving the front wheels and capable of delivering a max power of 150 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. It can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.2 seconds. According to the company, the ZS EV will be good for 335 km on a single charge. Using fast charging, it can be charged up to 80 percent in about 40 minutes.
The managing director of MG Motor Middle East, Tom Lee said, “MG Motor Middle East is benefitting hugely from the brand’s global commitment to remain at the forefront of new energy development. Now, as the region’s major cities focus on becoming the smartest and most sustainable in the world, we can contribute to that vision of the future with our first-ever 100 percent electric vehicle.”
MG Motor determines to become the best in the New Energy Vehicles market, for that the automaker has a rigorous development program in place for the development of reliable and more equipped vehicles to combat extremities weather has to offer.
Earlier this summer, MG tested the ZS-based electric SUV in the UAE under extreme heat and the program concluded on a successful note, showing the electric vehicle is now ready to hit the Middle East roads. Lee further added, “After extensive hot weather testing, and a robust development program I am very pleased to say we have an appealing, stylish and innovative electric vehicle for the region.”
The MG ZS EV is available to order while the deliveries for the same will commence from January next year. MG Motor has a strong network in the Middle East, with 22 showrooms and 23 service stations. The brand is only looking to expand from here on.
