Mercedes puts EQC SUV to winter testing a few days before its Geneva debut
ABU DHABI: The Geneva International Motor Show will commence in a few days and looks like we’ll get to see some compelling EVs staging side-by-side by the big-shots of the auto world. After Jaguar revealed its all-electric crossover earlier today, we now hear Mercedes sharing images of its soon to debut all-electric EQC SUV.
This new electric mate from Mercedes like the Jaguar I-Pace is compatible to go against the likes of Tesla Model X. For Mercedes, this one would be the first concrete step in the electric field, as its previous offerings like the B-Class Electric Drive and SLS Electric Drive neither gained much sales nor limelight.
Just a few days prior its Geneva showcasing, Mercedes shared winter testing images of a camouflaged EQC. Going through the uncompromising test proves that EQC is all-ready to hit the roads and deliver an all-weather performance as expected by from a Merc. The pictures shared by the brand come straight from Sweden where the test was conducted. According to the sources close to the company, the said car would be subjected to more than 500 standard tests in addition to some special one for its EV powertrain nature.
Apart from showing strong driving spirit in the snow, the teaser images also say a lot about the all-new EQC design language. At first glance, Mercedes new all-electric car reminds us of the GLC crossover. At the front is present a new grille with big and bold Mercedes logo sitting in the centre, followed by a sharp pair of LED headlights. Its side profile looks beautiful thanks to the chrome outlining around the window casing, gunmetal coloured ORVM, prominent wheel arches, and roof rails.
Summing up, EQC is the all-new electric SUV developed under the Mercedes EQ badge, and we are expecting it to be available to general public by 2020. As for now, we are waiting to see it un-camouflaged at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show along with the all-new hydrogen-powered GLC F-Cell.
