Mercedes C-Class and GLC-Class EVs set for global debut in 2026

ABU DHABI: Mercedes-Benz will expand its electric lineup in 2026 with the introduction of two significant models. During a financial results call, CEO Ola Källenius announced that all-electric versions of the GLC-Class SUV and C-Class sedan will debut in 2026, with North American models scheduled for launch in 2027.

The new all-electric models of Mercedes-Benz will be positioned in the ‘core luxury’ segment, alongside the E-Class and CLE-Class. 

The entry-level lineup will include the GLA and GLB SUVs and CLA coupe sedans based on the new MMA platform. Initially, the electric vehicle platform planned to come up with two versions, MB.EA Large and MB.EA Small. However, due to the need to cut costs and a significant decrease in EV sales, MB.EA Large’s development has been halted. However, MB.EA Small is still under development.

The all-new CLA is scheduled for launch in 2025. Due to advanced technology, the pricing for these models is expected to increase slightly. Additionally, Mercedes is planning to increase the share of its global top-end luxury cars by 60%, including the G-Class and AMG models..

Sagree Sardien, Mercedes-Benz Cars head of Region Overseas, emphasized that the company recognizes significant potential in the TEV (top-end vehicle) category, which has been experiencing double-digit growth for Mercedes-Benz in recent years.

Despite the expansion of its EV lineup, Mercedes-Benz will still globally offer combustion-engine cars.
