Mercedes-Benz reveals vision EQS concept as all-electric S-Class
ABU DHABI: Mercedes-Benz has revealed the Vision EQS electric concept car at the Frankfurt auto show. This car proves that there will not be only self-driving cars in the future. This car looks very sleek with soft contours and simple shapes. Till date, the EQ prototypes and concepts in the Mercedes range have been quite practical and are mostly shaped like crossovers. However, that is not the case with EQS as it’s very sporty and indicates at the future design statement of the carmaker. This concept car provides us with an idea of how a fully electric S-class might look like.
Talking about the design, it comes with a blacked-out roof, but that’s not a new idea as the Camry offers the same. However, what’s new is what Mercedes calls the 360° Light Belt. It is nothing but a long and slim light that covers around the car and divides the dashboard from the body. Not only that, it comes with more lighting highlights such as 229 star-shaped lights at the rear and a digital grille that gets 940 LEDs at the front, which can work as a turn indicator.
Getting inside the car, it flaunts an airy cabin with a buoyed up centre console and armrests, which is supposed to generate serenity and it certainly looks futuristic as well. It comes equipped with a plethora of artificial materials, like imitation leather, which enhances the overall look of the cabin and makes it feel more luxurious. Mercedes has tried to show some concern on the environment by adding headliner made out of recycled plastic.
Coming to its oily bits, the car will be powered by two electric motors that can produce a combined maximum power of 469 hp and a peak torque of 760 Nm. Mercedes has stated that it plans to launch a brand-new completely electric model every year.
