Mercedes Benz E-Class - All you need to know
Much before Mercedes-Benz E-Class became a favourite of cab drivers across Europe the full-size saloon was designed to offer a comfortable ride and a luxurious cabin that ensures you arrive at your destination more refreshed than when you set off. The 2020 model year gets several updates that might not make the E-Class the most ferocious performance machine in the market but definitely balances out the tech and power of the sedan really well.
The German car manufacturer is also working on introducing a model update for the E-Class which is currently being tested all over the globe. This means, right now is the best time to get incredible deals on the outgoing model of the Tri-Star brand’s luxurious four-door salon. In the United Arab Emirates, Mercedes-Benz E-Class rivals the likes of BMW 5-Series, Cadillac CTS, Lexus GS and the current segment favourite the Audi A6.
With the growing popularity of the utility vehicle segment, luxury salons have seen a decline in demand but the Mercedes E-Class manages to hold its own thanks to its impressive build quality and immaculately well-designed engine and cabin. The outgoing Mercedes E-Class might be the last model from the Tri-Star brand to feature a conventional internal combustion powertrain. The German premium car manufacturer has already teased the upcoming update which will feature electrified propulsion. So as we transition into the era of electric vehicles let's look at all what you need to know about Mercedes-Benz E-Class that makes it one of the most impressive offerings in the segment.
Exterior
The predecessor of the outgoing model of Mercedes-Benz E-Class received mixed reviews for its controversial styling. Things didn't get much better when the current model was introduced as Mercedes ditched its straight forward styling to incorporate a more curvaceous design with prominent creases in order to give the new model a more muscular look. The design, however, is subjective and we feel that with the new styling language the outgoing model of Mercedes E class makes for a very attractive offering in the segment.
At the front, we find a giant Tri-Star logo that sits right in the middle of the front grille which features horizontal slits. Right above the Mercedes logo sits a camera and the front bumper has been designed to offer a more sculpted aesthetic to the car. The German luxury car manufacturer has also ditched the Tri-Star hood ornament to meet pedestrian safety regulations and we feel this change offers a cleaner look to the premium sedan.
The overall car has been designed to be reminiscent of the much larger S-Class. The headlamp cluster gets a dual torch unit which is exclusive to this model. The rear of the car (in a true Mercedes fashion) features a much-understated design and we find that taillights also get the LED treatment. Throughout the length of the car, the exteriors of Mercedes-Benz E-Class flaunt tastefully incorporated chrome accents that are found on door handles window surrounds boot lid and front grille.
Interior
Stepping into the car’s cabin you find that there are scuff plates that feature an illuminated Mercedes Benz logo. The car features a digital cockpit with two 12.3 inch touchscreen units that sit side by side. One touch screen that sits in the middle of the dashboard takes on the infotainment system duties whereas the one behind the wheel doubles as a multi-information display. The touchscreen infotainment comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and also doubles as the display for the reversing camera.
Like the rest of the Mercedes portfolio, the E-Class also gets electronically adjustable power seats with memory function. Being a Mercedes there are a lot of luxurious features offered in the E-Class which include multiple sun visors that can be electronically operated for the power windows, rear windscreen, and sunroof. The driver and passengers at the rear also get controls for the front co-driver seats. All seats in the Mercedes E-Class are quite comfortable especially the rear seats which get 34-degree recline feature. The interiors feature leather upholstery with double contrasting stitching that flows around the cabin.

Being a Mercedes Benz in a true German tradition the engine of the luxury saloon is state of the art and borderline bulletproof. This comes at a price because to maintain the integrity of the motor and the powertrain Mercedes demands customers get the saloon serviced on recommended time and mileage intervals and being a luxurious brand, the maintenance and upkeep of Mercedes Benz E-Class will not be easy on the pockets.
Safety features
As far as safety features are concerned, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class specs sheet comes jam-packed with state of the art driver assistance equipment which includes a camera at the front that is used for front collision mitigation. At the rear, there are six parking sensors. There are also sensors installed in the wheel arches to help relay 360-degree visual awareness to the driver. The other standard safety features include ABS with EBD, we also get automatic headlamps in the outgoing model.

Conclusion
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is one of the most well-designed offerings in its segment. Even though the BMW 5-Series might offer better driving performance and the gadget tree and styling of the Audi A6 might appeal to a much broader audience, when it comes to refinement Mercedes Benz E-Class has no rival. The Tri-Star brand’s sedan is on the verge of being over-engineered and has been designed to offer the ultimate balance of performance, comfort, luxury, and high-end features even though all of it comes at a premium cost.
