Mazda reveals EZ-6 EV at Auto China 2024

ABU DHABI: During the Auto China event in Beijing, Mazda revealed its latest electric vehicle, the EZ-6, developed in collaboration with Changan Mazda specifically for the Chinese market.

The Mazda EZ-6 has been positioned as the combustion-powered Mazda 6 saloon’s successor. It is not exclusively electric but has an electric drive system.

The car will be available in both plug-in hybrid and battery-electric (BEV) variants. While the BEV boasts an anticipated range of around 600 kilometres, detailed technical specifications about both versions will be disclosed in the future. As per the reports plug-in hybrid variant may work as a range extender to generate onboard electricity, utilising its combustion engine.

The EZ-6 boasts a fresh design language, featuring retractable wings at the rear and sleek headlights that have been integrated into a broad grille.

The Mazda EZ-6 perfectly blends the Kodo-Soul of Motion design philosophy of Mazda and the Jinba-Ittai driving experience with the advanced EV technology of Changan, promising an intuitive and advanced driving experience.

The Mazda EZ-6 is equipped with luxurious amenities such as zero-gravity seats, a 64-color ambient lighting setup, a 14.6-inch infotainment system, a panoramic glass roof, and a premium 14-speaker Sony audio system.

The Mazda EZ-6 is expected to be launched in China by the end of the year. This marks a leap in the electrification journey of Mazda. If received well in China it may be introduced in other markets.
