Look who visited Geneva - Pininfarina HK GT, an 1,073 PS designer coupe
ABU DHABI: For those of you who aren’t aware, Pininfarina is an Italian car desigining firm that approximately a year ago was taken over by the Mahindra Group. Under the group’s leadership, Pininfarina has gained stable grounds and is now on the recovery path.
As for its latest move, Pininfarina has partnered with Hybrid Kinetic, a Hong Kong-based motor group. Together they have developed the new HK GT, a two-door coupe currently on display at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show. This new creation by Pininfarina displays a unique design language both on the inside and outside.
Talking about its striking looks, the HK GT has a wide bonnet that smoothy meets with the grille cum headlight configuration. The illuminated vertical stripes on the front give the car a futuristic look and we couldn't have asked for more creativity. Moving to the side profile, there's no way one could miss those big prominent wheel arches housing massive tiers with smart alloy work. When its gull-wing doors are closed, the engrossed character lines going from front to the rear end catches your attention. On the back, the car features a sleek tail light followed by stylish infuser casing.
Once its gullwing doors are opened, we see ample cabin spacing that gives rear passengers sedan-like spacing and seating access. On the tech front, HK GT provides digital instrument panel, a heads-up display for the front passenger, touchscreen centre console and a plan-cabin like steering wheel.
Thinking, what powers the Pininfarina HK GT? Well, on opening its hood, you’ll be greeted by four electric motors that are paired with a 38 kWh battery and together produces 1,073 PS of power. The company claims that the said futuristic look carrying car can touch the 100 km mark in 2.7 seconds after achieving the top speed of 350 kmph.
Pininfarina says HK GT is a car that can be driven at the track and is even good option to go on long drives. We surely are impressed by both its looks and performance figures, but only time will tell how well the buyers response to this new electric Pininfarina.
