Lexus LX 700h gets launched with powerful petrol-hybrid technology

ABU DHABI: For 2025 Lexus is updating its largest SUV with the unveiling of a new Overtrail grade that has been specifically designed for off-roading. For the first time, this trim comes with a hybrid powertrain, in the form of the LX 700h. The 2025 LX 700h and Lexus LX 600 luxury SUVs are expected to be launched early next year.

Before the introduction of the LX 700h, the LX SUV was hailed to be the only Lexus model that did not have an electrified variant. The new LX 700h comes with a parallel hybrid system that combines an electric motor with a 3.5-liter V6 petrol, twin-turbo engine, and a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The updated Toyota Land Cruiser 300 will also be powered by this engine. Along with a four-wheel drive, the combined output of the LX 700h is 463 hp and 790 Nm.

The LX lineup boasts faster wireless charging pads and an updated 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The Executive and VIP versions offer massage programs with different levels of intensity. Lexus has also come with an "Overtrail" edition which is completely off-road focused, available on other models such as the new Lexus GX. This edition also comes with all-terrain tires, unique alloy wheels, a rugged cabin with ash burl black accents, low-saturation upholstery, and exclusive Moon Desert paint.

The Overtrail package elevates the LX with exceptional off-road capabilities, featuring rear and front differential locks along with a central differential lock, which across all LX trims is standard. This makes the SUV suitable for challenging driving conditions and rugged terrains.

The refreshed LX lineup which includes the LX 700h will first be launched in North America and will cater to those looking for performance and luxury. Following its debut in North America, the LX 700h and the other updated models will be introduced in other markets.
