Get ready for “something new” from Alfa Romeo at the Geneva Motor Show
ABU DHABI: The hype around the 2019 Geneva Motor Show is growing with each passing day, and it seems to be Alfa Romeo’s turn to add to this excitement. After the launch of the Stelvio and Giulia, the Italian carmaker has been rather silent, but it's all set to change come March 5.
According to a company spokesperson, we are going to get a glimpse into the next chapter of Alfa Romeo’s legendary story. Unfortunately, no further information was revealed. The company will also showcase its complete line-up at the Geneva Motor Show.
Speculations suggest that the mystery car could be a small crossover, positioned below the Stelvio. Although Alfa Romeo has plans to launch a bigger SUV, to take on the likes of the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and BMW X5, it is unlikely to be showcased at Geneva. In the event, the mystery car is not a small crossover, all probabilities lead to the return of the GTV coupe nameplate. It is expected to be powered by the same 2.9-litre V6 engine found under the Giulia Quadrifoglio. The engine makes 600 bhp, features electric turbocharging and an all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring. The GTV is claimed to have a perfect 50:50 weight distribution with room for up to 4 passengers.
No matter what Alfa decides to unveil, it is probably going to be based on the Giorgio platform. This platform is currently being used in the Giulia and Stelvio. Jumping on the ‘green’ bandwagon, all upcoming Alfa Romeo cars will have a plug-in hybrid option with Level 3 autonomous driving and connected systems.
We can’t wait to see what Alfa has up its sleeves and whatever it is, will defiantly be a game changer.
