Geometry C images appear online ahead of Beijing debut
Chinese carmaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, last year, revealed its new electric vehicle (EV) brand Geometry in Singapore. Geely introduced the Geometry A electric car at the event held at Marina Bay Sands. The all-electric midsized sedan is expected to be commercially available from this month.
Images of the Hangzhou-headquartered company’s second product, the Geometry C hatchback, have now appeared online, ahead of the car’s official debut at the Beijing Auto Show to be held in April. The Geometry C, according to pictures revealed by CarNewsChina, retains some of the design elements seen on the all-electric sedan. These include a covered upper grille, slim and extended headlamps, a trim piece linking the taillights, and horizontal slats on the car’s lower apron.
The hatchback is a more dynamic-looking car and sports large inlets on the front bumper corners. It also has the ‘floating roof’ design because of the blacked-out C-pillars. The sloping roofline tapers towards the high-mounted spoiler. The Geometry C has a black cladding, seen on a number of modern-day crossover vehicles.
The Geometry C measures 1,833 mm in width and 4,432 mm in length. The car is 1,560 mm tall and its wheelbase spans 2,700 mm. The Geometry A sedan, in comparison, measures 1,804 mm in width and 4,736 mm in length, with a height of 1,503 mm. The wheelbases of both cars are identical.
Sources suggest that the Geometry C all-electric hatchback will be hauled by a front-mounted, single motor which produces 200 bhp. The power output beats that of the Geometry A by 39 bhp. Geely claims that the hatchback can attain a top speed of 150 kmph.
While the company has not yet revealed the specifications of the car’s battery back, the EV is expected to offer a mileage of no less than 400km on a single full recharge. The sedan, meanwhile, comes in a choice of 61.9 kWh and 51.9 kWh batteries. According to the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), the former returns a mileage of 600km, while the latter is pegged at 410km.
Features of the Geely’s new all-electric hatchback are likely to include a panoramic sunroof, a blind-spot monitoring camera, and rear wipers. CarNewsChina hasn’t disclosed the expected price of the car.
