Ford Mustang Mach E launched at 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show
Blue-oval has launched the all-new electric SUV, the Mustang Mach E at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. Joining the EV game, Ford is looking to give a competition to Tesla that has been ruling the electric auto space to date.
The Ford Mustang Mach E GT Performance Edition has been launched with some staggering numbers related to its brutal performance on the road. The car’s performance is rated at 365 PS and 830 Nm. According to the company, it can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in the mid-3-second range.
It is a rear-wheel-drive car with an EPA-estimated travel range of 483 km offered with an extended-range battery pack. Additionally, Ford has blessed it with built-in charging solutions that will not only enable the user to locate nearby charging stations but will provide access to a wholesome FordPass charging network with more than 12,500 charge stations.
While the Mustang Mach E will come with all-new performance Flexira aluminium callipers, the GT Performance Edition will feature a MagneRide suspension unit along with adaptive suspension technology for enhanced road holding capabilities.
The executive chairman of Ford, Bill Ford said, “At the first-ever Detroit auto show, Henry Ford said he was working on something that would strike like forked lightning. That was the Model T. Today, the Ford Motor Company is proud to unveil a car that strikes like forked lightning all over again. The all-new, all-electric Mustang Mach-E. It’s fast. It’s fun. It’s freedom. For a new generation of Mustang owners.”
Whisper, Engage and Unbridled, are the three modes on offer. Each comes with distinctive characteristics, ranging from ambient lighting, dynamic cluster animations, sporty steering controls and tuned sound output to deliver an all-electric experience.
Moving further, the Mach E gets the next-gen SYNC communications and entertainment system with a 15.5-inch touchscreen with zero room for complexities, according to Ford. You can access features on the screen by simply performing familiar smartphone-like gestures, swipe, touch and pinch. Moreover, the system is now more intelligent, thanks to machine learning that enables it to learn the driver’s preferences quickly. The regular over-the-air updates will keep the system at par with the latest modifications and updates.
Ford’s global director for battery electric vehicles, Darren Palmer said, “Next-generation SYNC actively starts adapting to you as soon as you start using it, quickly learning your preferences and making personalized suggestions. It can suggest going to the gym if it learns Mondays are workout days or calling home if you do that every day after work. The result is a cloud-connected assistant and interface that’s intuitive, beautiful and ready for the future thanks to fast over-the-air updates.”
A new technology called the “Phone As A Key” has been debuted with the Mach E that uses Bluetooth to unlock and start the car for driving by detecting customers’ smartphones as they come close to the car. The mere presence of smartphone can do the trick and you don’t need to take it out from your pocket. In case the smartphone’s battery dies, you can start and drive the car by entering a backup code on the centrally-positioned touchscreen.
An AWD Mach E will be available at launch for better acceleration and improved handling than what’s offered by the RWD model. Ford Performance team has tuned the Mach E to perform seamlessly on wet, slippery and snowy roads with a groundbreaking traction control system.
A special and limited edition called the First Edition will also be there for you to grab. It will feature contrasting seat stitching, red brake callipers, a scuff plate with First Edition badge and metallic pedal covers.
For reserving the Mustang Mach E, you need to pay $500 (AED 1,836 approx) as a reservation deposit. You can visit its reservation site for doing the same. While the Mach E will be made available in 2020, the deliveries for the Mach E GT Performance will begin in spring 2021. However, reservations for the Mach E GT are currently underway.
