Enjoy the ‘Sky View’ with this addition in the Bugatti Chiron

AUB DHABI: Remember the Bugatti Chiron? Of course, you do. It is one of the most expensive exotic cars on the planet. It is now available with an optional sunroof or rather we should say a ‘Sky View’ as the Bugatti calls it.

 

The new Chiron Sky View addition that gives the car two fixed glass panels on roof located just above the seats, one panel for each occupant. The panels are made up of a newly developed laminated structure with thin glass and four intermediate layers.

Being a Bugatti nothing here is useless. Each layer of the glass has got its own function. One keeps the irritating wind noise in check, the other one keeps the infrared radiation at bay, then the next tinted one is to take care of the privacy of the occupants and the last one is to filter out the harmful UV radiation.

Of course, the panels have been tested before to make sure that they, being a new element in the car, doesn’t compromise the safety of the car in any manner. And they do not.

Opting for the Sky View option, you will also get 2.7 cm of extra headroom in the cabin. Perhaps, that was the main motive behind this accessory, to increase the headroom? Jokes apart, each of the fixed glass panels measures 65 cm in length and 44 cm in width. And, it would not be wrong to say that they are, too, an added luxury. We wonder whether the existing Chiron owners would like to have this in their rides or not? And if they do, would it be possible to get it installed or fitted in the standard Chiron?

The Sky View option is yet another piece of engineering because to fit a glass panel on the roof of a car, that has got 1,500 PS of power and 1,600 Nm of torque. Plus the car can attain unbelievable speeds in no time, and all this while maintaining its integrity without compromising the overall safety is not an easy task to accomplish.

Bugatti is going to showcase a Chiron with the Sky View option at the upcoming Monterey Car Week in Pebble Beach, California, which is scheduled to take place on 18-26 August 2018. Bugatti has not released any price details of this model but you can order it now if you want.
