Dodge teases next-gen Charger Pursuit

ABU DHABI: The eighth-generation Dodge Charger, expected to replace both the four-door Charger and the two-door Challenger, is one of the most eagerly awaited launches of the year. Dodge has also teased a special variant for law enforcement: the Charger Pursuit.

The upcoming Charger Pursuit’s Instagram teaser has revealed only minor details about its design, but it is expected to be an electric model. For police use, there is also a possibility of a straight-six version. 

The Pursuit will not be based on the coupe but on the four-door Charger. The main visual differences include a unique white-and-black livery and a light bar on the roof. The previous Pursuit had steel wheels, heavy-duty brakes, a vinyl-upholstered rear bench, and police-specific seats.

For the Charger Pursuit, Dodge will not make significant mechanical changes. The electric Charger will generate 456 horsepower in the R/T trim and up to 590 horsepower in the Scat Pack trim. For even more power, additional upgrade packages are available. The gasoline variant will be the first choice for police, featuring a 3.0-litre Hurricane straight-six twin-turbocharged engine that produces either 550 or 420 horsepower, depending on the variant selected. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that delivers power to the wheels.

The upcoming Charger Pursuit is expected to reinforce the leading position of Dodge in the police vehicle market. With its high-performance credentials and advanced features, it aims to build on its predecessors' success, offering a powerful and reliable option to law enforcement agencies for their fleets.
