Cupra Ibiza images leaked ahead of the official launch
ABU DHABI: Images of the Ibiza concept hatch from the all-new Seat sub-brand Cupra have been leaked on social media ahead of its official debut. The images have been shared on Instagram from a fan page named ‘Cuprasport’.
The first model from the newly established standalone brand Cupra is said to be the performance variant of the fifth-gen Seat Ibiza that was introduced last year. The leaked images reveal that the Seat logos have been replaced by the new Cupra logos.
The Cupra Ibiza features diamond-shaped grille and brand new headlamps at the front while at the rear end, it gets a distinctive rear spoiler, twin exhaust pipes, and a diffuser. The car runs on large alloy wheels and comes with sporty body kit along with carbon-fiber aerodynamic additions that add to its exterior styling.
Talking about the interior of the Cupra Ibiza, the mini hatch gets a brand new cabin that has been made from premium quality materials. The car is equipped with an all-new dashboard and virtual instrument cluster. A 10.5-inch touchscreen display is likely to be borrowed from the 2018 VW Polo.
Under the bonnet, the Cupra Ibiza is expected to get a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder TSI petrol engine borrowed from the VW Polo GTI. The engine is capable of producing 200 PS of peak power and 320 Nm of peak torque. As for the transmission, the engine is paired with a 6-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Besides, a manual gearbox is also likely to be available.
The Cupra Ibiza will be unveiled later this week and is likely to be showcased at the 88th Geneva Motor Show, which will be held from March 8th to 18th. Upon the launch, the car will go head-to-head with the likes of the Mini Cooper S, Ford Fiesta ST, Vauxhall Corsa VXR and the Renaultsport Clio 200.
