Bugatti reveals an audio teaser of its upcoming Divo
ABU DHABI: After several months of teasers and rumours of the exterior and panels, Bugatti has now launched a unique trailer of the upcoming Divo. In a short ad of about 16 seconds, the video shows a twisted road in first person view with only the sound of an engine running. This was an intentional marketing strategy to arouse a sense of curiousness in our minds. Previously a video revealed the car’s exhaust notes and taillights, giving its audience a slight hint as to what they can expect.
From the recent teasers and the new trailer, we can guess that the upcoming Divo is a ‘corner focussed’ vehicle that was evident from the #builttocorner hashtag from its previous teasers. Even Stephan Winkelmann, Bugatti's president, once said,” Happiness is not around the corner. It is the corner. The Divo is made for corners”. Pretty obvious, isn't it?
With the basics in mind, the Divo is expected to be much lighter than the Chiron which weighed around 1995kg. However, considering the lighter weight, we are still unaware whether the Divo will use the 8.0L 1480 PS W15 Quad Turbo power-plant from the Chiron.
While several facts about the upcoming Divo are still unknown to us, at least we have a firm date of its launch that is on August 24th. The beast will be unveiled at The Quail, a motorsport event in California this year and it isn’t too long till we get to see the first looks of the car.
There will be 40 production samples built initially by Bugatti and the brand plans to “thrill people throughout the world” with its release.
The car is expected to have a power of 1479 bhp,1600 Nm of torque and a top speed of 225 mph.
Bugatti has credited French racer Albert Divo, winner of Sicily's Targa Florio mountain race, as an inspiration.
