Audi to unveil the next-generation A6 e-tron, A5 and Q5 soon

ABU DHABI: Audi has made an interesting announcement regarding its future lineup. It is planning to roll out 20 new models globally before the end of next year with the chief ones being the A6 e-tron, A5, and Q5.

The A6 E-Tron will use the Premium Platform Electric that has been developed in collaboration with Porsche. It will be launched as both a wagon and a sedan. This PPE hardware has underpinned the Macan and Q6 e-tron in the past.

The A6 e-tron is expected to have a 100kWh battery pack with a range of around 600 km, new E3 1.2 electronic architecture, and dual motor all-wheel drive. Design-wise it shares lots of similarities with the Q6 e-tron concept. It will include advanced lighting technology and curved screens.

Audi is planning to introduce the next-generation Q5 SUV and A5 series in this year’s latter half. These vehicles will utilize the Premium Platform Combustion, the VW Group's MLB architecture’s evolution. Notably, Audi has not mentioned anything about the A4 as it is being discontinued.

The forthcoming next-generation Q5 and A5, scheduled for release in late 2024, will be the last Audi models based on Volkswagen’s MLB architecture. They will come with electrified combustion engines, most probably in plug-in hybrid form.

Design-wise many changes are expected making them stand out from the previous generations. However, they will retain the signature styling cues of Audi. Additionally, their interiors may have elements from the recent electric models as Audi is paving its way towards an all-electric lineup.
