All-new Cupra Ibiza officially unveiled
ABU DHABI: Seat’s newly established standalone sub-brand Cupra has officially unveiled its first ever prototype model ‘Ibiza’ at the launch of the 300-hp Cupra Ateca performance crossover. The hot supermini is likely to be launched at 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
Earlier, the Cupra Ibiza images have been leaked on social media, which revealed much of the exterior and interior designing of the mini hatch. In spite of being a concept car, it looks like the Cupra Ibiza is soon to arrive in production guise.
The prototype model of the Cupra Ibiza is underpinned by MQB A0 platform, same as the VW Polo. Talking about the powertrains, the new generation model has received a 2.0 TSI engine, that churns out a max power of 200 HP and 320 Nm of max torque, similar to the new VW Polo GTI. As for the transmission, a 6-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox and a manual gearbox will be on offer.
Design-wise, the Cupra Ibiza concept car looks aggressive and features sporty body kit along with carbon-fiber aerodynamics. You can find the new brand logo designed with bronze highlights and copper accents at the exterior as well as inside the cabin. Additionally, the car gets a glossy black front spoiler lip and a roof-mounted spoiler at the rear profile.
Stepping inside, the Cupra Ibiza gets a brand new cabin featuring modern upholstery made of Alcantara and fiber-like premium leather. Moreover, the interior is featured with a fully digital instrument cluster and an all-new dashboard that receives a 10.5-inch touchscreen display, same seen in the 2018 VW Polo.
Apart from the Cupra Ibiza and the Cupra Ateca, another hot version of Arona subcompact crossover is likely to be introduced by the sub-brand of Seat, which will share its underpinning with VW Polo, VW T-Roc, Audi Q2, and Ibiza.
