All-electric Dodge Charger to maintain classic sound using noise simulator

ABU DHABI: Dodge has confirmed the arrival of the Charger Daytona, its first all-electric Charger. This model marks a huge leap for the brand as it makes a transition into the electric vehicle market. It is expected to arrive later this year at dealerships and promises to blend Dodge’s modern electric technology with performance heritage.

With a $61,590 (AED 226,672) starting price, it aims to offer both value and innovation in the growing electric vehicle segment. The Charger Daytona’s introduction reflects the commitment of Dodge to evolving its lineup while maintaining the style and performance of its iconic Charger nameplate.

The Charger Daytona takes just 3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph and delivers 670 horsepower, rivaling the best gas-powered muscle cars.

Dodge stated that the next-gen Charger signifies a legend, maintaining its title as the most powerful muscle and the quickest muscle car in the world. The all-electric Charger Daytona is equipped with a 400V propulsion system that offers supercharged V-8 performance with instant torque and zero emissions.

With a “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust,” the Daytona preserves its heritage. It simulates the classic Charger’s roar despite its electric powertrain. Dodge CEO, Matt McAlear stated that the 2024 Charger Daytona two-door models will feel, look, drive, and sound like traditional Dodges. They will surpass their legendary predecessors and meet Dodge Brotherhood of Muscle’s expectations.

The company assumes that the “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust” of Charger Daytona mimics the Hellcat’s distinctive roar. Hellcat is one of the most powerful muscle cars produced by Dodge. This feature enhances the driving experience by retaining the iconic sound that is often associated with high-performance models. 

However, keeping in mind that a few drivers may enjoy a quieter ride, Dodge has incorporated into the Daytona a stealth mode allowing the vehicle to operate without much noise, similar to other EVs, offering a more refined and quieter driving experience when needed. This dual functionality makes Daytona ideal for both enthusiasts who favour a more serene drive and enjoy classic muscle car sounds.
