2018 Toyota Yaris - A new entry in the UAE compact sedan market

ABU DHABI: March seems to agree on a lot with the UAE auto market, as it's the second time in this month we are treated by a stunning four-wheeled beauty. Next up, after Honda Accord UAE launch, it’s Toyota’s turn to put its strong foot forward, with the launch of 2018 Yaris sedan. Adopting similar style as Honda, Toyota too launched the new Yaris at a private event organised at the Dubai’s H Hotel in the presence of company officials and renowned media figures.

The said Yaris UAE unveiling was held under the guidance of Toyota UAE official distributor Al-Futtaim. And as per the officials, the new Yaris sedan aims to target first-time car buyers, including the new licence holders. On the same note, Managing Director of Al Futtaim, Mr. Saud Abbasi, said, ‘the Yaris Sedan is one of the key models not only for our retail customers but also for our corporate and SME partners. The new model offers so much more than superior value and best-in-class fuel efficiency. The interior, exterior and cutting-edge technology are ideal for aspiring young executives and small families alike.”

Highlighted in other ASEAN markets for its quality, reliability, and durability, Toyota Yaris is a well-known figure, and we are more than happy with Toyota’s step to include it in its UAEs current line-up. In addition to carrying the brands trusted fascia, Yaris sedan has a lot to offer both in terms of styling, comfort, performance, and safety.

At first glance, what attracts one towards the 2018 Toyota Yaris is its scratched LED-infused headlights that almost merge into one another via the brand moniker. Next up, we were impressed by Toyota smart horizontal LED strip placed right above the faux air intakes, that'll sure look stunning all lit-up. The elongated fog lamp casing is again an intelligent design element and complaints the wraparound headlights very well. Toyota's new sedan side profile is all clean and sleek and adding few stylish clues to it are present teardrop roofline, chrome door handles, shark-fin antenna, and rightly placed contour lines. The rear end like the front fascia is attractive and posses attention seeking elements like wrapped tail light and prominent bonnet giving the impression of a spacious trunk.

We are not sure about the dimension spec, but if the recent Yaris sedan India launch is to be believed, the car is 4361 mm in length, 1695 mm wide, and 1485 mm in height. With a wheelbase of 2570 mm, it’ll sure provide better legroom for passengers on the front and rear. Inside the cabin, a wide range of comforting options work best to make your ride delightful, in the list are included features like- automatic climate control, cruise control, LED cup holders, premium upholstery, keyless entry and smart system, and USB/AUX audio input.

The UAE market is amongst the few zones where Toyota is offering the new Yaris sedan in two engine options. In addition to the widely available 1.5-litre mill, buyers here will also have the choice of a 1.3-litre power plant. Though the bigger mill will deliver higher power and torque figures, what remains common in both the options is a class-leading fuel economy figure and 7-step CTV gearbox.

The all-new Toyota Yaris would be offered in as many as eight exterior shades and two interior color options. Competing against the likes of Kia Rio, Honda City, and newly launched Hyundai Accent, Yaris sedan would be available in two trim options.
