Top 10 fastest production cars in the world
The UAE is home to some of the scintillating cars coming from world’s renowned automakers that are fast, aggressive, and exotic. It is evident that people in the UAE and other neighbouring GCC countries love fast cars. Speed is fun, and we all love to hit the accelerator as hard as possible while sitting behind the wheel. Isn’t it?
Moreover, people like to rate cars on the basis of their top speeds because it is one of those sensations that every one of us enjoy at some point in time. We list down the world's fastest production cars here that are recognized as legitimate by profound auto groups and sanctioning communities.
Hennessey Venom F5 - 484.4 kmph
The fastest car on the planet Earth is the Venom F5 with a claimed top speed of 484.4 kmph. To achieve this feat, Hennessey Venom F5 uses an all-new carbon-fibre chassis weighing just 2,950 pounds and is tuned with a 7.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 1,622 PS of peak power. It can travel from 0-100 kmph and back to 0 in a total time that's less than 30 seconds. However, Hennessey Venom F5 isn’t the official fastest car as the company is yet to confirm its top speed with the Guinness Book of World Records.
Koenigsegg Agera RS - 447.3 kmph
Having verified its top speed with Guinness Book of World Records, the king of the fastest cars on this planet has to be the Agera RS with 447.3 kmph. It uses a carbon fibre chassis with aluminium honeycomb, tipping the scales at 70 kg (including tanks). It is powered by a 5.0-litre V8, the twin-turbo engine that produces 1,176 PS of max power and 1,280 Nm of torque.
Hennessey Venom GT - 434.5 kmph
Next in the list is another controversial fastest car, the Venom GT, which recorded its fastest run in 2014 at the Kennedy Space Centre. Usually, the cars run both sides of the track, and an average is taken to account for the final value, but the Hennessey Venom GT ran only in one direction. Since it is hand-built, the question of it being manufactured as a production car is also a concern. As a result, Guinness Book of World Records did not recognise it as one of the world’s fastest car.
Bugatti Veyron Super Sport - 431.3 kmph
The Veyron, when got dethroned by the SSC Ultimate Aero, the legendary automaker, owned by VW now, made a comeback with the Veyron Super Sport. With a few aerodynamic changes and 1,217 PS engine, it managed to gain those extra miles per hour. The Veyron Super Sport was once the world’s second-fastest production car.
Bugatti Chiron - 420+ kmph
Next on the list is the Bugatti Chiron, which can be regarded as a monumental feat of engineering by the legendary Bugatti. It took over the torch from the Veyron to become one of the fastest cars in the world with a top speed of 420+ kmph. Though the exact number is unknown, it is assumed to be more than 420 kmph. Under the flesh, it has a quad-turbocharged, 16-cylinder 7,993 cc engine that produces a max power of 1,521 PS.
SSC Ultimate Aero - 412 kmph
The Ultimate Aero from the stable of Shelby SuperCars (SSC) was the fastest cars in the world when it managed to hit 412 kmph in 2007 and outclassed the Bugatti Veyron. This beast draws power from a 6.3-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine that produces a max power of 1,305 PS. Back then, there were no electronic aids to control such high power, hence it was a pure bliss for driving experts while an invitation to death for immatures.
Aston Martin Valkyrie - 402.3 kmph
This beast is yet to be released, which is a result of combined efforts of Aston Martin and Red Bull. Powering the car is a 6.5-litre V12 engine that is capable of churning out 912 PS of power. However, Aston Martin predicts its total power output to be around 1,146 PS and a top speed of 402.3 kmph.
Tesla Roadster - 402.3 kmph
It is the second-gen Roadster with the capability to hit 0-97 kmph in just 4.2 seconds. Tesla, after getting it equipped with a massive 200 kWh battery pack, claims that it can clock a top speed of 402.3 kmph which makes it enter in the list of fastest cars in the world. The top speed figure is, however, yet to be verified.
Saleen S7 Twin Turbo - 399 kmph
The first mid-engined American supercar that now packs a big 7.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine produces 760 PS of peak power. Having built in between years 2000 and 2009, the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo accelerates from 0-96 kmph in just 2.8 seconds.
Koenigsegg CCR - 389.4 kmph
On the 10th spot is the Koenigsegg CCR with a top speed of 389.4 kmph that was recorded back in 2005 at the Nardo Ring in Italy. Built on the lightweight carbon-fibre body, the CCR packs a 4.7-litre V8 engine that produces 817 PS of peak power and clocks 0-100 Kmph in just 3.2 seconds.
