1.Honda Accord was the first Japanese vehicle to get manufactured in the United States of America. In the year 1982, Honda set up a plant in Marysville, Ohio where the sedan was built. Ever since its launch in the U.S more than 10.5 million Accords have sailed out of this plant.
2. The Accord has achieved something no other car has ever gained. It has featured in the Car and Driver’s 10 Best Cars list for 30 times. On this achievement, John Conrad, general manager and VP of Honda America said, ‘Do something special once, you might be called lucky. Do something special twice, you start to build some credibility. Do something special 30 times, like the 10 Best Honda Accord, and you’ve accomplished something truly extraordinary.
3.Not many are aware of the fact that the original Accord housed a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 69 PS.
4. In the year 2011, Honda honoured a man named Joe LoCicero with a new Accord. The reason was that Joe owned a 1990 Accord and pushed the car for over the one million mile mark, with the car still carrying the original engine and transmission system.
5.Honda tuned the Accord with a V6 mill in the year 1995. It was a turning point for the sedan, one might say.
6.Do you know the reason why Honda picked the name Accord? Well, Honda chooses it to reflect the brands “desire for accord and harmony between people, society and the automobile.”
7.Ever since its debut, Honda has sold close to 13 million Accords globally.
8.The Accord had two ‘GREEN’ distinctions - one is called the ultra-low emission vehicle, and other is the partial zero emission vehicle.
9.In the year 2004, the diesel-powered 2.2-litre i-CTDi Sport mill powered Honda Accord set up a record of 19 land speed in Germany.
10.Ending the list on a bitter note, Honda Accord in the year 1994 topped the list of the most stolen car in the U.S. That’s because it is easy to break into and all its past pay off well.
