Maxus T60

The top model of the 2024 Maxus T60 comes with leather seats with contrast stitching and, along with the rest of the upholstery, lend a premium feel to the cabin. Leather is also more durable than any other material. The fit and finish of the interior are good, and apprehensions about China-make can be put to rest. There's a tasteful mix of piano back, satin chrome, and satin black highlights inside the cabin. A lot of hard plastics have been used to increase durability. There's a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with six speakers. The display is crisp and clear, and the sound output is really impressive. The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel controls most of the multimedia functions. The physical buttons are neatly laid out below the touchscreen. There's a central instrument panel flanked by two analog gauges that are easy to read.  

The cabin of the 2024 Maxus T60 is spacious. The front seats are quite flat and firm and don't offer much lateral support. The driver's seat comes with multi-level adjustment. The rear seats are surprisingly comfortable. Even with the front seats pushed back to the maximum, there's still enough legroom. The headroom is more than sufficient. The rear seat is unusually spacious for a twin-cab pickup. Shoulder room for three persons is tight. Most pickup trucks offer a bouncy ride because of the cargo bay. But the ride quality becomes more comfortable when the cargo bay is fully loaded. Some vibrations and body movements filter into the cabin. But it isn't disturbing. The air-conditioning offers fast cooling.

The top-end model of the 2024 Maxus T60 is hauled by a twin-turbocharged, four-cylinder, 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces 150 PS/350 Nm. The motor is mated to a six-speed manual. The powertrain is a little slow in uptake. The steering wheel is on the heavier side and will take time to get used to. Negotiating corners isn't razor-sharp, but then pickup trucks usually need to provide the best handling.

The 2024 Maxus T60 comes with a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, antilock braking, driver and front-passenger airbags, electronic stability control, antilock braking, lane departure warning system, and child seat anchors. The safety equipment isn't the best in class, but it offers a lot at this price point. Rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring are major omissions in the entry-level model.  

The 2024 Maxus T60 comes with an affordable price tag. The pickup manages to strike a nice balance between utility and comfort and mostly succeeds. It's a worthy vehicle for those who want a midsized pickup on a budget.
